Dan spent the evening getting ready for elk and moose.

This is the measurement of his 35 Whelen cartridge.

He prepared over 100 rounds. Moose and elk can be very big in Saskatchewan.

I'm certain he'll be along shortly to give us a rundown on what he has done.

Well guys the bullets in the RCBS trays are my new brass and the others are to get ready and do some more at the range. I would like to have my new lady at 100% when Sept. 15th comes around.
The load is as I said before 225gr. ABs over top of 60grs. of RL15, the brass is Remington and the primers are CCI BR2 8). The other photo shows the COAL which is at 3.450".
I have now set up to resize my nephew's 7mm Rem. mag and will hopefully have a 100 or so of them done by tomorrow night . Those will have 160ABs over top of 60grs of IMR4350 with CCI mag primers.
I would again like to thank Yoda and the rest of you for all the help you have been on getting this lady to sing in the right key

Blessings,
Dan

Wow! You are ready to hunt Dan! Glad it worked for you and the Whelen! Are you going to shoot the Whelen out a little further and see what it does at 200 and 300, maybe 400 too?

Welcome, you are, Dan. Success you should have if an animal dead is your goal.

Dan, good to hear you are set. I'm headed out tomorrow to try to finalize my loads also. Good luck on your hunts

Dan,
Wow, your Whelen load is incredible. What a shooting load. I can see that now your ready to take on Mr. Bull Winkle. Lots of luck buddy.

Don

Dan,

It only takes one round to kill a moose (or an elk) if the shot is placed correctly.

Scotty, my next time out I am going to try some different distances . My last time out & after I shot that tight group I shot 2 shots at the metal gong which is out @ approximately 250 yards I whacked it twice when aiming dead on. At 100 yards it is just 2" high so I am fairly confident out to 300 yards :) unfortunately our range does not go out past that gong
Mike you are so correct that it only takes 1 bullet to take a Elk & another one to take my Moose but I want to be ready incase they herd up . Hopefully before Whitetail season I will have her shooting those 200gr. Accubonds as well & give them a try.
I got my CDL back yesterday with my new Timney trigger & it has been set @ 3lbs. I am still hoping that I will get it out & tuned as well. I am hoping to get the info to Leupold so that I get my CDS dials before I go out for Whitetail as well.
PS. I am hoping as well to have all the parts to my Chrony when get to the range so I can get some accurate readings on the Chrony! Last time out I forgot my tri-pod  this getting old is not always easy.

Blessings,
Dan

Dan,

Those are some fine looking hand crafted loads.
You will have no problem taking elk and moose.
Good luck on your hunts.

There are that many moose in Saskatchewan?

Hey, the ammunition looks good and we're all pulling for you, Dan. Keep your stick on the ice.

I am hoping for a few more nice days here in Saskatchewan so that I will not have to worry about ice :p quite yet but over the last few days you can feel the nights cooling down and we do have some leaves changing colour.
The Moose population is actually on a real big upswing especially down here in the southern part of the province. They are talking about opening up a few more tags next fall to clean some of the animals out as down here their only enemy is a vehicle.
Speaking of Mooses  Mike did you get yours back from the butcher yet? I was wondering if you got any sausage made up?

I am now starting to shave and get ready for church so talk with you later my friend. Looking forward to listening you in the next few days

Blessings,
Dan

We are cutting and wrapping tomorrow. I'm making my wife label packages as she doesn't like the way I do it. So, I invited her to come with me and show me how to do the job right. It was a trap, sprung with precisely the right timing.

Oh, yeah, I'm going to pay, but this rare moment is surely delicious.

Sask Boy - good looking ammo. And I think you've got enough for a whole herd of elk AND moose!

Am thinking that your 225 gr AccuBond, with 60 grains of RL-15, ought to be churning up something like 2800 fps... That's moving right along! No wonder it's shooting nice and flat. I'm pretty impressed with the bigger Accubonds. Haven't tried any small 'bonds.

Yeah, the 225 AB in the Whelen is pretty sweet Guy. I am looking forward to smashing some of them into jugs pretty soon. Wanna see what they do at longer ranges. I know they will work fine up close.
