Getting some stuff taken care of

That one looks very nice, Kurt. Trust you'll soon find the source of trouble.

Round three. Howa 1500 in 7 WSM. Ran into a bit of trouble with this one... something is binding in the new stock. Floor plate won't sit flush, and the trigger won't break. I'll have to come back to it later... grandma is watching my son so I can sneak off to the range (yea!).

Wow, now that's lot of purple! One has to be secure in their masculinity to pull that one off! :p

It's very handsome. The scope doesn't look that far forward. How's sight acquisition for you when you throw the rifle to firing position?

Turns out that I need to figure out a way to move it forward considerably, at least 1/4". Probably either need to go to medium Talleys or a rail... kind of leaning towards the rail (thanks to Scotty and Guy).

Guy/Scotty, do you prefer a particular brand of rail? I know Guy has a Badger on his Coyote.

Kurt, so far I have used the Weaver, EGW and Leupold. I know Warne makes them as well. Badgers are probably the best of the bunch, but to be honest, they have all worked well for me. The Weavers are on my 338WM and 264WM and they are working excellent. The EGW is going on my 7WSM. I am sold on the rail, it allows me much more scope adjustment and it is totally repeatable. I usually end up getting whichever one is available. I haven't found any problems with any of them. Scotty

Are the Weavers Picatinny format also? I don't think the Weaver format and Picatiny are compatible, are they?

Very handsome, Kurt. I'll confess that it improved the looks of the rifle.

Well, getting rid of the Bubba Buddy buttstock ammo sleeve helped a bit, too! Thanks, Mike!

Since I'm really putting off heading out to the hot garage to put a new scope and mounts on the H&H...
