My oldest stepson, Josh, and I went to a range yesterday that offers a 500 yd distance. We shot steel targets (provided by the range) and some paper.

Sierra 169gr Matchkings, 44 gr Varget, 100 yds. This was my first try with this relatively new bullet. I left the target in Josh's truck so I couldn't measure it but I'm guessing .5ish.

Same load at 500 yds.

Sierra 177 gr Matchkings, also my first try with a fairly new bullet. Measured .269 at 100 yds. 43 gr Varget.

The range had a small silhouette target hanging offset behind the 500 yd targets at 525. I had three rounds of the 169 gr load left so I decided to try it and hit it. I got up from the bench and told Josh to try it. His first shot essentially hit on top of mine but his second was slightly left.

Rifles used were a Tikka T3 Varmint (308) and a Tikka T3x CTR (6.5CM).

That's great shooting. Slamming steel is fun indeed.

Thanks guys. Something I forgot to mention is I got my first suppressor out of ATF jail the other day. We tried it out and it was so cool hearing the sound of the bullet hitting steel being louder than the report of the rifle.

308 Win and Varget , wouldn’t want anything else.
Look like you found what works👍
