I can't find any h4350 for my 243 and 30-06. Anyone else been able to find it? I'm worried it may be a while before it comes in stock again.

Anyone have any alternative powders they like in the 4350 range? I was thinking RL17 but worried about temp sensitivity.. Thoughts?

I just returned from Sportsmans Warehouse in Southaven, Ms.
Gonna try to work up loads for my .30-06.
Bullets are 165gr Nosler BT
I'm excited to say the least.

I've found that IMR-4451 is very close to H-4350 in measure and performance.

If anybody is within driving distance, I have a few pounds of unopened H4350 I could part with.

All the same lot number.

I just picked up a pound of it the other day at the mom & pop shop I get my powder and primers from. If I'm not mistaken, H414 had a similar burn rate to H4350.

If anyone who needs it is close to Indianapolis, I can part with an unopened 8 lb jug of H4350

I used IMR4064 in the 30.06 with 150 - 180 grain bullets . I never tried it in a 243 .

Bruce, what kind of velocities are you getting with 4451?

I picked up a can of IMR-4350 from the Cabelas outpost across the river from me for $26.99. IMR-4350 was the only 4350 when I started reloading and is still the same old IMR-4350 as far as I can tell. This stuff works as well in the 30-06 as H-4350 on paper for me. I wouldn't worry too much about temp sensitivity unless I was a long range target shooter shooting a string of 5 to 10 shots @ 600 to 1000 yds.

I've worked up to 41grs of 4451 with a 90gr AccuBond with velocity of 3150 fps. It isn't showing any pressure indicators yet but its grouping around 3/4". I think i'll find a sweet spot with OAL. I've only fired three groups working up on powder charge. The Hodgdon reload center has some good starting loads for 4451. I've also found that IMR-4451 mirrors H-4350 in my .270 so I'm guessing it will do well in the '06.

Did some research on 4451 and it looks like a good alternative to H4350. Mosley has it listed for 70gr 243 bullets but not 30-06. Anyone using this powder with 175/180gr bullets in 3006?

There is also Accurate 4350. All three 4350s are quite similar as is Reloader 17, though the data will vary a bit.

IMR4064 is good in the .243. I use it for 95/100gr bullets. I also use it in my .22-250. It's very versatile.

I believe Hogdon, is dedicating their production capacity to the new enduron based powders.
Unable to find H4350 in my area I switched to IMR4451 with beautiful results.
In my 30-06 with a 24" barrel, new Nosler cases, Federal Large Rifle primer, and 56.6 gr of IMR4451, and 180gr Partitions I see 2,730FPS measured about 15' from the muzzle. Using once fired cases I picked up about 30FPS. NYDAN and I both fired 3 shot, 100 yd groups measuring less than 1/2" @ 100 yds with this load last month. Dan's group was a true 3 shots less than 1/2" group, my group was two together, two flyers, and fifth shot back in the group. Truly operator error, not the rifle or load.
I think IMR4451 is worth trying in your '06, I have no experience with the .243.
Good luck with whatever you choose. Rol

Good results Rol!

I understand that 4451 was released, due to supply problems with H4350. When my supply of H4350 runs low, I'll pick up some 4451 and give it a try!

I've been running IMR4350 in both 30-06 and 243 with great results. With the temperature swings here in Texas, I haven't noticed any great changes in results other than groups opening up a bit but still under 1 MOA.

that sounds good , I have no experience with it in a 243 . I used IMR 7828 in the 243 with 100 gr bullets . IMR4064 seems to be forgotten about in my area , it's always on the shelf . I think availability needs to be considered when making your choice of components .

For danged sure Jim. I know it has made me look at some other powders I probably would not have in the past.
