Hornady GMX

Man, those 200gr ETips sure do look really good, especially next to the 270 ones. Not that the .277 ones are bad either. They look like awesome mushrooms and really seem like they would dig very deeply. Still, it would be nice to see a 225gr ETip for us .338 guys. Thanks for the pictures Jake. Scotty

Great pictures Jake. I hope to recover some from game in this coming year.

Mike, were you able to grab any from the moose you shot last year with the WSM. Scotty

One was a complete pass through and the other was lost in the gut pile. Consequently, it had penetrated at least four foot of moose. The impact was devastating on that bull.

Greg,

I haven't used them in the field, but I did some work with the 150 and 165 g GMX in my 30-06 this past week. I did not notice any decrease in copper deposits. Neither did I observe any increase. What I did find interesting was that in speaking with a ballistician at Hornady is that they do not recommend seating them as far off the lands as is recommended by either Barnes or Nosler. Velocities were good and accuracy was good. Perhaps I'll have opportunity to see some results from the field this Fall.

Mike, I do not have these in my inventory for my load work at the present, but that said I am interested in trying them. Your accuracy, was it hard to find an were the velocities up where they should be for the 30-06 with the powder charges you used?

Impressive pictures indeed. The E-Tip did not shoot in my Mark V well at all and my Mark V was a true 1/2" rifle with some of my hunting loads. I am going to try the 150gr E-Tip in my Ruger. Sure wish I could get these to shoot accurately for me like some of you have and also with descent velocity. Man, I would give anything if it would work with my present 06. Will see, thanks for the pictures.

Mike,

Velocities were precisely as predicted. Moreover, accuracy was consistent across the spectrum of charges tested. The groups tightened slightly as velocity increased and began to open at the final two grains or so as I approach maximum. All in all, I was pleased with my first tests. I have several more sets ready to shoot this week. I had hoped to get out last week, but life intervened.
