Done a little first of the yr squirrel hunting. Leaves are turning into their typical brilliant colors, oaks and poplar's are still green which makes them extra hard to find and try to head shoot with a 22. Got a decent little squirrel dog that brings you every dead squirrel at a run and lives to do his job. Spectacularly beautiful fall day, cleaned squirrels are in the fridge, had a good supper and cup of coffee, and am sitting here a little tired but filled to the brim with contentment. Amazing sometimes how rewarding the simple things in life can be.

Well said, Shade Tree; well said. Being alone in the woods with a good rifle in our hands, observing nature, listening to what the wind has to say, refreshes the soul.

Timely,
For as long as I can remember I've prepped for two weeks for elk season. Growing up it was an 8 hour drive to camp. When I was on the job in the Seattle area, it was about the same. Now I'm in my new house. I'm in camp in under an hour.
I have been pretty complacent getting ready. I gat back from Alaska Sept 20, I've guided 20 days since then. Also trying to get moved in, paint, build a kennel and fix the fences before the snow falls. It will I'm at 3500 feet in the Blue mountains.
I think I am a little burned out on hunting. Glad I saw this post. Renewed enthusiasm. I will finish the bedroom by lunch, I will head to camp Wednesday morning, the crew will show on Friday. It will be good.
Thanks.

Whew! That's busy. Here's hoping the loose ends of life get tied up for you and you can slow down and enjoy it. I've been there, everything can become work including hunting.
