I had previously posted the first target below with the 150 gr. CTBST and IMR 7828 ssc in the .270 Win. I was hoping to verify the results yesterday and I shot the second target below. I ended up using different brass. In the first target I used partial F/L resized Nosler brass and in the second target I used new Norma brass. Also, I got the OAL off by a couple of thousandths. But, I think the loads still looks pretty good. Between the two targets, five out of seven bullets would have made one large hole. What do you readers think I should do with last remaining dozen bullets? Another verification with partial F/L resized Norma brass? I have much more Norma brass than I do Nosler brass. That is what I plan to use for hunting, if I ever get more bullets which are now back ordered until August.

In the windy conditions yesterday, I shot numerous targets with the 140 gr. AB's and RL22 at various OAL's. I had some good, but not great, groups. There was always a vertical component in the groups. Nothing worth posting.

I also shot three loads of IMR 4831 with the 140 gr. AB's. See the third target below. Right now that looks more promising than the RL22 with the 140 gr. AB's. I wish I knew how much of the horizontal spread was due to the wind gusts. The ballistic tables say about 0.6" at 100 yds for a 10 mph cross wind. But, I didn't pay attention what the wind was doing on each shot. I was just trying to follow through with the shots.

It looks as if you've garnered some good data to provide guidance. You do present some fine groups; that has to be gratifying.

IMR 7828ssc looks to be a great powder for the 150gr in the 270win.
PS. That is some great shooting as well.

Blessings,
Dan

Great shooting! 7828ssc and RL 22 are tough to beat with the 140/150 Noslers in .270. I've also started experimenting with Magpro and am liking what I've seen so far. Congrats man!

Good shooting. Personally, I would stick with the 7828. I gave IMR 4831 a good try in a few calibers and the lot I had was just too sensitive to air density and humidity.
In my wife's Ruger 7X57 it would cause the case to bulge on one side just ahead of the web regardless of charge weight. I had worked up a good shooting load in my .300 Win. and shot a deer on a really oppressive, humid day and I could hardly lift the bolt. That was it for me and IMR 4831.

Looking good but you may be able to push the load another half grain and pull in the flyers? BTW, Norma and Nosler cases are made by Norma.

Looking good Dan. It looks like IMR7828 is going to be your powder. Try seating the bullets deeper in .005" increments and walk the flyer into the group.

NYDAN- Progress with IMR-4831 55 gr. and the 140 looks promising. 2886 is real good for only 55 grains.
