It's a Browning Short Trac walnut in a 243 Win. She had a Rem 7 in a 243 that I sold last year to a buddy for his daughter. My wife has been hunting with me now 6 years. She still has a problem cycling the bolt. She just doesn't assert herself and "JUST CYCLE IT"! So she is only good for one shot.
I have the same gun in a 300WSM and she can shoot that so one in a 243 is going to be just right for her. Weight and recoil will be acceptable.

I already load for my own 243 so this is a no brain er.

So now I have this Savage Lady Hunter in a 7mm-08 I need to decide .... sell it or change stocks and park it for ???

Sounds like a good solution for her, I thought about one of those as well for my wife. It should have very mild recoil that's for sure. The BAR is an intriguing gun, they seem like they are well built and accurate guns. How are you liking yours, are they hard to load quietly when all of a sudden an animal is close by?

I have always liked the Browning BAR.
Should be a sweet shooter for your child bride.

Gerry - I've tried to load quietly and it just isn't happening. You need a positive cycle to get the bolt to rotate and lock.
So what I would consider quiet - No. Is it loud - no - not too bad.
