I purchased a pair of these a couple years ago. Once I got them broken in I loved them for really rough hunting conditions. They may be a little heavy but they are so comfortable they extended my range and reduced fatigue. I thought Danner was the only boot to own until now. Two deer, elk chukar and pheasant seasons and they started leaking, not bad but enough. Stuffed them in a box and sent them back for evaluation last week. They sent out a new pair today, free. That is a dang good deal. Danner would have replaced the gortex and charged me. Kenetrek has a good warranty apparently.

I've heard a lot of good things about Kenetrek. Looks as if they stand behind their product.

My Mountain Extreme boots have served me well on 2 elk hunts in SW Montana. Their Mountain Hikers are my "go to" boots for local hiking and off the beaten path foot travel.

I'm considering a pair of Mountain Extremes myself.

I'm sold on them. I stewed quite a bit about spending 400 bucks as I never got more then two years out of Danner pronghorns. Seems like a great deal now. My feet did get pretty warm chukar hunting, but they were happy feet.

I've heard good things about the Kenetreks also. I don't care much for most of the Danner imported products, but they still make a couple boots here that are worth looking at. I used the Danner Trophy on my goat hunt and have used it for a few years now and really like that boot.
The Danner Canadian is also a very similar boot and a good one. I really like the traction of the air-bob soles.

I think my next pair of boots though, I'm going to pick up a pair of Whites Outdoorsman boots. These are hand-made in Spokane Washington and Whites for years has produced a superb product. My father was a line-man for the Electric Co-op for years and that is all these guys that climbed poles bought. They held up and they provided the support they needed to climb poles day in and day out.

My experience with danner mirrors yours. The American made boots are much better. Easy to figure out when looking at the catalog, they cost more. If I buy another pair of Danners they will be American made. I also have a pair of Canadians, been rebuilt a couple of times, re- soled, they are now my back up boots.

I too like the air bob sole, wish I could get it on the Kenetrek.
