Hey all,

So I have been doing some lurking a bit, with the sole intent of finding a precision 308. Goal is to learn LR shooting beyond what the 'Corps has taught me. Going to eventually take a class on it as well.

I was really digging the FN SPR line of rifles, but I just had to lurk on Kimbers site and after looking at a nice 1911 I found their tactical rifles.

This one really has my eye. I wanted to see what you all have to say about Kimber rifles; are they any good? Does anyone know who makes their actions?, as they are CRF and have a "Model 70 type safety". Are their issues I have read about gone?

They are handsome rifles, to be sure. Those who own the current crop speak well of them. Buy one and let us know what you think.

I don't own a Kimber, and can't answer some of your questions, but I can comment on the specs in the link. Guy can comment on the twist rate of this barrel better than me, but I would want a faster twist than 1 in 12 if you are planning on shooting LR with the rifle. You will not be able to stabilize most of the longer, high BC bullets that are being used today. Most of the guys I shoot with using .308's for FTR are using 1 in 10 or 11 twist barrels. You can get a rifle built to spec or find a low shot count used rig for what they have the MSRP at on this rifle.
