Still is my favorite caliber for Whitetail Deer, and have had more instantanious kills with a 270 on Whitetail Bucks, than any other caliber! Cant imagine any gun working any better than a 140 SST at 3000fps...................

My favorite is Maggie, my 264 win mag. This old gun has worn 3 barrels and 3 stocks over the years getting perfected. I don't have digital field photos of most of my past game shot with her, just plain old photos. Here is a pic of Maggie and her trophies I have digital pics of.

This is my go to rifle for hunting trips away from home. Hart custom left hand in the good old 300 win mag. :mrgreen:

I always take 2 rifles on hunting trips

Guess my #1 rifle would be what I call the "pivot rifle" that always goes whether I'm hunting Whitetail or Elk. It is a 280AI rebarreled off a Sako 270 with a Hart barrel at 26" Kahles 4x12x52 MultiZero and will shoot a 160 gr AccuBond just over 3000 fps, good for either Whitetail or Elk

The other rifle #2 for Whitetail is a 6.5 rem mag rebarreled off a Browning BBR 300 win mag with a Douglas barrel at 26" Zeiss Conquest 4.5x14x44 RapidZ 800and will shoot a 130 gr Scirrocco II at 3200 fps

The other rifle #2 on an Elk trip is a 338RUM rebarreled off a Beretta Mato 338 win mag with a Brux barrel at 26" Kahles 4x12x52 MultiZero and will shoot a 225 gr TTSX at 3100 fps

I was always a bolt gun guy, preferably belted mags, 300 winchesters, 7mm STWs etc, but ever since I bought my BLR 308, its been my goto Michigan deer killer. Strange how those other rifles are heavier now that im 38 and not 24.

Just have to say this is one great forum. You guys really have some nice rifles. My Winchester featherweight .264 Mag with a 22 inch barrel is just little more than a .270 Win. IMO. I have only shot factory ammo through it. It groups about 1 1/2 inch 5 shot group at a 100 yards with Remington CL ammo. It's one beautiful rifle that they did not make many of. ( 264 Win Mag Featherweights)

Nothing wrong with 270+ performance if you handloaded you might get a bit more
