Leupold VX3 CDS 4-14 ????

Yeah it's easy to get caught up in it all isn't it?

I've had decent luck with Leupolds. I've some that are better but the ones I've kept have been good scopes. Really liking their fixed power scopes lately.

I have two of the VX 3 rebates coming back in. when I get them I will have paid $203 for one VX3 4.5x14x40 and $224 for the other. They are my first VX3s and I am impressed so far. Mine are not CDS.

WoW, I got mine for VX 2 prices but Paul you got yours for
VX 1 price, what a smoking deal!!!! Hope you have good luck with it.

...I've got the 4.5X14 VX-3 CDS on my .325, since I only use one load for it. If you are looking for 'Magic' or 'Miracles', the CDS might not work for you, but if you take some time, work up a load, carefully chrono it, match it as close to the avg. elev., avg. temp., avg. humidity, well, "average 'Density Altitude'" you expect to be shooting the dial turns out very serviceable...

...the 'dial' has a couple of advantages, you don't have to look @ your range card, & you don't have to count clicks. The 'dial' will be about as accurate as a range card, & quicker 'cause you can dial it directly, just glancing up @ it. It's going to give you as good of a 'firing solution' as a Hourus or other BDC type reticle...

...lightning strikes, grizzly attacks, & pdawg attacks happen, so I imagine you could turn the exposed knob accidentally (mor'n likely you turn the dial up & forget to reset it to 'zero', but we won't mention that), but 'experience' tells me a 'fast-focus eyepiece' is more problematic, being prone to 'fast-unfocus' being pulled from a gun case, rubbing while slinged, rubbing while carried...

...the CDS ain't perfect, but it works pretty good for hunting...

Well I have tested the new VX3 against scopes that cost $700/500/300/200 and $79........
And even thought I love my VX2, the eyebox on this 3 has me Buffaloed, and to be honest even though I am fascinated with the CDS system, after carefully comparing it to my Zeiss scopes and even the old $250 Muller, I just do NOT see these valued at $550/or the 450 or even the 350 with rebate....... To be honest I am have a huge problem seeing it is even 1% better than my VX2.......
So probably I missed something but I am now thinking this
Scope is head to Cabelas returns on Monday morning....
After all the dust settles, the fancy box , all the advertising hype, it just didn't show me that it is a $600 scope, I was shocked and to be honest pretty disapointed in the scope
Maybe I was just expecting tooooo much from it.

Sorry to here you don't care for your new acquisition. Last I looked Europtics had some Zeiss Conquest 4.5X14 still in stock and I have been impressed with my new Meopta Meopro 3.5-10X44 I got from Cameraland ny for under $400. Meopta use to make the Conquest line for Zeiss.

I've had a couple of the 4.5x14's in the past and the eye box doesn't work well for me. The last one was on my 264 Win. Pretty tough to get behind on the upper X's. My experience with most of the newer Leupolds is at the 2.5x8, 3.5x10's and their fixed 6's. Those have all been pretty trouble free.

Give a look at the SWFA 6X MilQuad. Very nice piece of glass, excellent for dialing and holdover and runs about 300 bucks. Plus it's rugged as heck. The holdovers aren't meant for dark shooting but I haven't had too much trouble with maintaining the center reticle.

Another one might be a 300 Zeiss Conquest from Europtic if they still have them. Big Bang for the buck there.

I have that 6x super chicken on my 308 PSA PA10. Great scope made even better with the zero stop shim kit. Simply nothing can hang with the super chickens when it comes to dialing on the cheap

Just noticed if the deal wasnt good enough, I just noticed Cabelas has applyed, 4X the normal amount of club points on this sale ,so they gave me $68 of club bucks to boot! so I guess that is now getting this down into the $275 range.... good enough deal , but if you dont like something, it just aint gonna work.......
