Yo.... just for the record the 338 Win Mag or the Rum seems to drop off
relativally fast at 500 yards and the 270 for an "Inferior" cartridge for elk at that range seems to be right there for a mag cartridge.

At any rate, I'm ok if the critter isn't DRT.... It ain't goin far.. besides I a pretty good shot to place one in the boiiler room as you boys say.

I understand that you guys from Joisy aren't very good about picking up subtle detail, and again you missed the subtle details.

My first elk, which means it was a loooooong time ago. Two calibers. That means there were at least two shooters. The purpose of the story was not to solicit your advice on how to improve my shooting. It was to demonstrate the real world benefits of using an optimum vs. minimum cartridge for a specific purpose.

Another subtle you missed is the original purpose of this thread. One of our respected, long time members was posting some great results with his new rifle. These were results that could be very beneficial to other members who might be considering a new rifle, or loading for the same cartridge. Instead, you acknowledge you have NO experience in the aspect of our sport that we are discussing, and you begin flaming those of us that do have experience is this aspect of our sport. HOW IS ANYTING YOU POSTED ON THIS THREAD HELPFUL TOWARD ITS ORIGINAL?
