My rifle is done!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations on your new M48. You are going to love the 280AI buddy.
What bullet(s) are you going to run with?

JD,
I have a fair supply of both 150 ABLR's and 160 AB's...may try 168's at some point too (Nosler and Berger)...but I'm hoping the 150 ABLR's prove to be simple to work with...if so, I'll probably use that for most everything except maybe elk if I get the chance...may even use them for elk too, just depends on what they show me on deer.

Dwh,
Mighty nice of you to offer your services...but I think I got this one (y)

You can't say that those lurking about here are not generous. We are always willing to help.

rigerunner try rl26 with 63.5, and 63.8 grains with the 150 ablr's. 210m primers.

I'm rolling with MRP for now...got several pounds of it...its doing plumb great in my wifes 270 with 140 grain bullets...but I'm interested in hearing and seeing about other powders...thats what this thread is for....if its a 280 Ackley load put it in here, pics are a plus (y)

EDIT: Actually, MRP is doing great in two 270's...my wifes M70 and my buddy's A-Bolt...its sending the 140 grain bullets out fast and accurate in both rifles.

I am using RL-22 with my 150gr. ABLRs so far MOA is around .75" but I am sure that it will get better once I can play with the OAL a bit. Spring is in the air here and I hope to begin working on it in the next month or so.

Blessings,
Dan

Have some loaded up to test as soon as get a chance with 63gr RL26 and 215GM primers.

Backed down from testing 150 lrabs up to 65gr with 215GM primer............ stiff bolt lift and click at top of opening bolt MV with magnetospeed at 3317fps. 65gr TOO HOT!

i want to sell my remington 280AI and buy a nosler, How much did that run?

Very nice! Looks fit to shoot! Glad you have it in your paws.

Its not in my paws yet...my wife picked it up today...I'm in Mississippi, likely won't be home for a week or 3 yet.

$3,820, but its an M48 Custom...you can get the Patriot ($1,800) or Heritage ($1,900) for considerably less...and still get a VERY high quality rifle....they are all made from the same components, but I wanted the grey Kevlar stock and a couple other options that only came with the Custom.

Very nice! I'm interested to follow your load work-up process.

I'm excited to get started too!!! It'll be a slow process, but it will be done before deer season.

I like it alot. Would you say the patriot is a quality rifle? And can you get a 26" barrel on the patriot?

All Nosler rifles are quality rifles...no question in my mind on that.

No, the Patriot in 280 Ackley comes with a 24" barrel....only the Custom gives you the option of different barrel lengths.

I don't believe the 280 Ackley needs 26" of barrel...it'll only give you about another 60 fps, not worth the extra weight and length in my opinion...but everybody's opinion varies on that.

Putting my money where my mouth is...mine is a 24" barrel.

The Patriot and the Heritage are both quality rifles!
Here is a Heritage in 280AI.

I've got the 120 gr BT to shoot .618" with less than 100 rounds down the barrel.
