I just got a 22 250 in Savage model 12 and would like to know if any body would be willing to share some of thier loading info. This is my first 22 250 I plan on useing 50 and 55 gr bts and maybe some 60pt.I can,t belive I waited this long to get one.

Congratulations on your 22-250. You are going to love it. Pleanty of power and range for varmints and predators.

My 700VLS shoots the following load .5 MOA.

50 gr BT
Varget 36.0 grs (MAX)
W-W case
Federal GM210M primers.

My favorite load is a 55 grain V-Max with 38.7 grains of IMR4350. A 3 shot group can be covered with a nickel at a 100 yards.

You'll love the 22-250!

h414, w760 and varget are the powders i use. highest velocity is with varget, best accuracy is h414 with mag primers. i shoot 55gr. bt and 64gr winchester power points. my 788 rem likes the 64gr and it will work on anything you would use a 22-250 for, coyote size and larger.

Viht N-140 CCI BR primers and 55gr BlitzKings or B-Tips, both actually shoot in about the same place

What twist is your Savage 22-250? If 1:14, you may have trouble with the 60 gr+ bullet weights.
The 50 gr BT's shoot very well and are deadly on coyotes. Exit wounds through the ribs are the size of a nickel.

I have a 1:12 twist and might try the 60 gr pt on smaller deer but I don't think I will use any thing heavier. Thanks for all the info it will be a great start. I better get to loading if I'm going to shoot it this weekend.

I know you asked for heavies but if you ever get the hankering for 40 gr....

38 varget 40 bt

4100 fps and 1 hole in a couple of guns.

The heavies "need" H380.

I'll have to give that one a try. 8)

Pop I have a box of 40s and will try them after deer season. I just got back from shooting it and shot a box of Remington 55gr factory loads for starters. I'm going to load some 55gr bts tonight and try them out saturday evening hope all goes well.

I finally found some time to shoot my 22 250 and setled on H380 with 55gr bts it was shooting .75 and 1.0 @ 100 yards with a oal of 2.470 and will play with that a little more when I can find some time and a nice day.

If you decide to shoot the 50 gr. BT's, my Savage likes 39.0 grs. of H-380.

Yup, I am going to give H380 a try too.
