FACEBOOK

www.facebook.com

Sign up using your email address, use your name as your username, and make up a password. I'll send you a PM with my first and last name. That way we can be friends on there. It's like the PM's here but handier.

Sorry, Elkman. Yes - I'm referring to the comments above mine about Sierra Trading Post (STP) and their presence on FaceBook (FB). If you see me refer to LI, that's LinkedIn, which is more or less a boring business version of FB.

Whats, Facebook? Remember I am lost, old, and nearly senile. Did I also mention "face book free" ? You may look for me on FB (see I can learn) but I am like the phantom in the night "never to be found"

Facebook was the way kids communicated until adults found it, and then it wasn't cool anymore. So now that grownups use facebook (pretty much a more broad, non-topic specific version of what we do here at the forum), kids use thing like kik, snapchat, and other services where they don't have us pesky grownups making it boring.

Kids don't use email for anything but sending stuff to parents and adults anymore. If they want to communicate with one another, it's done via text, tweet, or the like. Watch any person under 20 yrs old, and probably 9 times out of 10, they won't go more than 2 minutes without their face and both thumbs engaged on a mobile device.

And dub....

We'd never steer you wrong on boots, man! Scotty is the one that got me on the Asolo's. He kept mentioning them, and when I was really at the point where my lightweight boots and started letting in dampness, he saw in his crystal ball that I was vulnerable. He launched a stealth attack by virtue of an email forward with an STP offer for free shipping, coupled with $300+ Asolo Sasslongs for $199. I have used those boots a LOT in the year (just under) that I've had them, and they will see heavy use here soon as shed antler hunting is about to start for the dog and I.

I wore them in the summer when I went hiking with my family, using them while I had my 25lb daughter strapped on my back in a kid carrier, climbing over glacial rock fields. They were awesome. No other way to describe them. Super traction, great support, rock-solid (no pun intended) footing on every step of the small hike I took with Bella on my back. On a dirt path it might not have mattered much, but scrambling on rocks with her on my back, a lesser boot would have been unsafe.

Here's some of what we crossed:

There's a fairly decent uphill slope to that boulder pile that isn't shown well in the pic. I came down that with Bella on my back.

And here's me and my three girls (and the boots, lol):

I am looking to upgrade some of my long under ware. I have heard that the Under Armor is a great product, any thoughts on it or other options. I do have some Patagonia and North Face already.
DuoFold Comes in different weights. from light polypro to heavy wool blends.

I have some & I don't know if I will buy anymore. Is it warm yes but no better than any other. What I don't like about it on a back pack hunt wearing it for several days I stunk really stunk, I did not with Merno wool. I think it hold the sweat & bacteria in & takes on a life of its own. I find it good for one day only.

FYI, Camofire has had some Core4Element Merino bottoms for about $40 all day today. Not sure how long they'll be there, but I have a pair of them, and I wear them almost every time I hunt.

As I had a few Cabelas bucks, I bought a set of their high end, ultamax like product. It has heavier fabric in the lower back, and fore ares, and lighter under the arm pitts and other warmer areas. Two bad I have been unable to test it out.
