Mod 700 Classic 7x57 almost ready!

I too am a big believer in firelapping a rough bore. I generally buy the pregritted bullets from NECO. Hopefully, my 7x57 will shoot well without it but I would definitely do it if it fouls bad. Another thing I have found very useful, especially for a barrel that "walks" badly when getting warm, is Cryo treating it. I also found barrels treated this way fouled less afterwards.

"I get out to Tucson fairly often PJ, we will have to link up. Was just there for two weeks and boy did it rain.. Hard to believe the desert was getting that much rain. I got soaked out hiking up on Mt. Lemmon.. Worth the soaking though to get out of the heat."

Well hell, give me a heads up the next time you're headed out this way. definitely have to hook up.

I just used the NECO kit with the three grits and then finished off using some more bullets coated with JB Bore Paste.

My M70 FWT had a bore so rough that it would totally foul out in one 20 round box of ammo. The 6 to 8 hour cleanings with Sweet's was a chore that drove me nuts. (Yeah, I know. No drive just a short walk. ) I use cast bullets instead of copper jacketed and reduced the amount of bullets used to five from the recommended ten. Then I did five or maybe ten cast bullets coated with the JB. I forget which it was. Gun shoots very nicely now and with little or no fouling depending on whose brand of bullet I use.
