Jeff asked me to post this about the money bunny shoot. 1360 yard one shot rabbit 5 bucks per try one shot per day.

Awesome shooting! Now that is a mighty small target! Scotty

had to come up with something new the 3 for3 at a g didnt last to long. this should be around for as many misses as a penny auction. rules are simple one shot at 1360 no sighters a hit gets half the pot a hit in the white vitals gets the whole pot. rabbit is actual size vitals are roughly 2" by 2 1/2"". so far five attempts no missing paint. this is the stuff i make at work when we are slow, i guess i justify that via the ransom i pay for union dues.

Jeff,

That is certainly a challenge, and it would be great fun to take a poke with you.

anytime mike. if any of you guys find yourself near billings your welcome to come out. pm me for directions

Very long shot at a very challenging target.

Somebody's going to take the pot... It will be cause for celebration! I like targets the size of a jeep out at 1000 yards or beyond.

Guy your right at some point someone will hit it and I am guessing it will be dead center in the vitals to boot. There has been cause to take the bike out there to look but so far its clean. I had a 13" plate out there that was hit quite a bit but rarely on the first shot if ever. I have hit it four out of five times but I don't think I hAve ever made a cold bore first round hit. I have a big hill the whole length of the range a natural backstop and the wind that comes off the top and down from there is extremely difficult to read and adjust for accurately enough to make a hit on a sub moa plate at that distance. I'm thinking a oddly calm condition will be the day its hit on the first shot.

That bunny is way out past the capabilities of my .308, but I'd like to come out and see your range someday. 'Bout an 11 hour drive from here - I sometimes get as far as Laurel then head south to Cody for hunting and fishing.

The Model 70 .300 WSM might reach out to 1360 okay, but I'm not getting the accuracy from it I'd like for that kind of work. If I hit the bunny with that rifle, it would be bad luck for the bunny, not good shooting on my part!

Guy, that would be an even more of a challenge. Work up a load for 155 grain Scenar at around 2900+ and it'll get there. Now hitting the bunny is another matter.

Man talk about a challenge! I might as well take a shot at it from my home, it's only about 320 miles west of you! I'd probably have about as much chance of hitting it from here. I think the next time I head east that way I need to bring a rilfe along. Now wouldn't that be something to be one of the "lucky" one's to hit it on the first shot!! And do it with a 6mm Remington!

Maybe that darn Marine and his crew will stop by on their way through to take a poke at it. :p

I did use the 175 matchkings out to that distance on the other plate with ok results. That is definitely in the winter of the 308 career at that distance. I am thinking the middlested with the 80g jlks will have little problem getting it done .510 bc going 3450+ should do it if I ever get it back. The 6.5x47 and the 6.5-284 have no problem with consistency at that distance. Almost changed from the middlested to a 22x47 lapua but don't think that small rifle primer will be 100 percent reliable in the 20 to -20 degree range.

Jeff -
Are you using the same rifle every time you take a poke, or have you tried several of those long distance rigs you have?

Could you make one the size of a school bus for me ?????? Well beyond this old mans capabilities. Probably beyond mycapabiities when I was a young man. You guys are "great" shooters.

I have only shot at it twice, and both times with the 6.5x47 lapua, might have to get the 6.5x284 out there or the 30-338. I just received some jlk bullets for all three that I am working on right now. I am sure all three are capable but just need to get the right condition. I did do the 3 for 3 again with the 6.5-284. I'm sure the bunny will be hit by someone before too long. The 6.5x47 maybe limited by the 3.5x15 nightforce, the others have the 5.5x22 nightforces on them I do prefer the 3.5x15 for hunting purposes though and they are brighter in low light than the higher magnification.
