David, I forgot to say..I also use the cat pole from stoney point as well :) ...they sure come in handy on a big-game hunt, they make for a nice steady rest for sure!..Lou

They worked well Lou but I wore out two of them and broke one. I used two each time I went out and they REALLY help take some of that work load off of your legs and get your shoulders and chest involved in assisting you up some of that steep crap! Up or down they really are a great assist!

I spoke to Stoney Point about it as the way they wore out was the carbide tips were shoved into the pole to where they were gone and all I had was a round hollow circle on the end. They did replace one and I purchased one as they told me that my one was too old and they would not warranty it. I never packed my tri-pod for my spotting scope as that was just one more thing to pack. I would put the pole between my legs, hold my legs tight, and adjust the length for comfortable eye level glassing and sit the spotting scope in the notch or just attach it at the top by screwing the notch off. It worked very well like that.

Great pics, incredible hunting country. You guys must of been in shape with the packs and steep slopes you encountered. Great memories too.
