Need your field report for 7mm Deep Curls

I'm in the process of load development for my new 7mm and deep curls are on the list. So far I've tried 168grn LR Accubonds and they didn't shoot well at all but Hornady Interlocks (162 grn) shot awesome. I'd like a little something more than a plain cup and core bullet though, I've got partitions, interbonds, and accubonds on the list but I have ZERO experience with deep curls. This load will be used specifically for Elk and perhaps Bear that's why I'm looking at bonded bullets. No offense but I'm not necessarily looking for recommendations of other bullets I'm really only looking for field reports talking about the Deep Curl.

Thanks guys

I would not hesitate to use deep curls on any animal, on any continent!
I've used them in my 280 and my 30-06 with awesome results.
I only wish that they made a 100gr 25cal deep curl.

Use them with confidence!

...I've used the 120gr. .25's on antelope & mule deer, the 160 & 175gr. 7mm, & 180gr. .30 on mule deer & elk. The one 180gr. I recovered crushed the farside front leg bone of a cow elk & was trapped under the hide, 80-85% weight retention, a little mangled. Accuracy has been very good w/ all of them, energy transfer & penetration have been excellent...

...they are not actually a cup & core, there's a lead billet center w/ a gilding metal jacket molecularly bonded to it so it won't separate...

It's a shame Speer discontinued them, I have 2 boxes of the 160's

I shake my head at ATK actually and what they are doing to a fine bullet company, they keep discontinuing bullets I use and doing so many weird things in general. Hopefully they will continue to produce the 358 250 gr Hot Cor and the 180 gr bullet for the 303 British.

I have came to the conclusion it's my fault. I start shooting the 162 Amax, Hornady suspends it. I switch to the 162 HPBT, suspended. I get 2 boxes of 160 Deep Curls, Speer discontinues.

Sorry 7mm guys.......

Please don't shoot any 160 ABs!

The Speer website still lists a bunch of supposedly discontinued Hot-Cor bullets, too. ATK is absolutely killing this brand. It's a comedy of errors, except it's not funny. What a shame.

I just posed the question also from the Speer Website.

Not that I'm overly concerned. The PT, AB, LRAB and BT all shoot very well in all my guns so as long as I can still get those I'm OK!

SPEER responded to my email about the Deep Curl rifle bullets.
"They are gone from component sales."

That's too bad.

That's a shame. I imagine they're making their dollars elsewhere and can't allocate the resources for a less profitable product.

IIRC they're also known as Federal Fusions, and given the current ammo hype I suspect that Federal is probably taking all of the production capacity.

Too bad they're gone. I wish that they also sold the Tipped Trophy Bonded Bear Claw from Federal but that's only in loaded ammo too.
