New 35 Whelen :)

Take a pair of Whelen to the range today.

First was a Remington 7400 carbine length barrel. Loaded up a bunch of Hornady 250 RN with RL-15. The barrel on this rifle is 18 inches, but she shoots well. All I am looking for from is is 200 - 250 gr black bear gun.

The 250 gr RN clocked 2400 FPS. Sighted it two inches high at 100 and she is good to go.

Second was a newer to me Rem 700 CDL. Loaded 250 gr Hornady SP with a bunch of RL-15.
These clocked 2610 FPS. Three of four holes touching and one shot I pulled.
Will load some Partitions and this powder charge and length and try to replicate the grouping.

Overall - good day for the Whelens.

Very nice. The 250 PTs at 2600 are very good in my CDL as well. It's really my favorite load in that rifle.

I have not shot the 250gr out of my 35 but may plink around with it a little. I will being doing some serious testing with the 200gr AB here when the snow leaves. I figure that will be sometime in July . They are talking another 3 or 4 inches of the white stuff this weekend coming up enough is enough

Blessings,
Dan

You should give them a whirl Dan, the 250's out of your rifle would be a one stop shop for everything big and hooved!
