New Ruger Precision Rifle

Clearly there is a market for this. No doubt it will generate interest.

There is a 6.5 again  I wonder if they make a left handed model?

Dan

They do in the standard Ruger American version but sadly no 6.5mm is offered right now. You can get a LH Savage, Tikka and Sako in several smaller 6.5 mm cartridges though.

As for the new rifle they will sell a lot of them but not to me, that style of rifle leaves me cold......

Not as good looking as a classy wood/blues rifle. But the proof is in the shooting. Chassis guns are extremely customizable, with lots of adjustment for comfort. Best of all they are some of the most accurate rifles out there

I think I want one in 6.5 creed-more, prolly be a long wait in Australia to get one though and current exchange rate will probably make it pretty expensive.

For a long range/tactical competition rifle it is a pretty good offering. It is half the price of a custom rifle and if it can shoot .5-.75 MOA, it can compete. I think it's a good option for an off the shelf gun. They will come out with a 300WIN option. The switch barrel capability is also interesting too.

Wow! Got my hands on one this morning... (y)

This is a true match rifle.

Very nicely built. Like a custom tube gun, but... With most of the oddities bypassed. For the money, it's one heck of a match rifle.

If somebody was thinking it was intended to replace their .338 Win mag Model 70 elk rifle... It's not. NOT.

What it is intended to do - is to provide a factory built rifle that is very much a potential alternative to tube rifles, only available from high budget makers or custom makers. So, for a real price of under $1k, it provides a very real alternative...

Only gripe I have with it, is a safety that seems a bit loose and prone to rattle. Sure "clicks" on and off nicely though.

Other than that... it's a real match rifle - factory built. Nice...

Thank you Guy for thr very informative post.
While not my cup of tea, for hunting, I could easily see having one for competition if I was so inclined.

One item to note...

Ruger got something really right on the .243. The twist rate on this is 1:7.7'' That has to have been done to stabilize the darlings of the .243 tactical crowd. The 105g AMAX and the 115g DTAC need faster twist rates to stabilize.

That's cool. Very fast twist to stabilize those loooong bullets. Good thinking.
