New (to me) .356

Those who know me know that I do like Model 94s. I have just acquired another Model 94 chambered in .356. I finally got it to the range, primarily to make certain it would go "BANG." It does. I need to do some load work for this one now. It is wearing a Kahles 2-7X36. I can see this getting some attention to make it shoot as well as my others. It was a steal, so I couldn't resist.

I almost dropped the coin for that .307 on Canadian Gunnutz a couple of months back. I have two, however, so I squirmed out of that. I do have three of these .356s, and may have to sell one, just to make room in my safe.

The .356 has accounted for grizzly, black bear, mule deer, elk and moose for me. I am very pleased with the cartridge. The Model 94 just carries nicely in my ham-fisted hands.

Very nice Mike. I have been looking for one of those down here but they don't seem very common. They usually have a couple on gunbroker for 700-1000 dollars. Prices seem to be rising on those older lever actions. Too bad Winchester won't bring them back, I'd definitely be in line to buy one!

That's a pretty good price on that .307, Gerry. I hadn't seen this one. The one of CGN was asking $625; he also had quite a bit of brass and ammunition. I thought I could pick that one up for $550. It looked as if it was unfired. I may have to contact this particular store to see the condition of this one.

Under different circumstances I would have checked it out myself, in a couple of years I may need to buy one again. Should never have sold the one I had, thankfully they seem to show up on a pretty regular basis.

$625 doesn't sound bad with all the extras especially in nice shape.

Man, now that is the way it is supposed to be! Hopefully you can get them Winchesters out and give them a good run. They probably feel a little neglected with all of the bolt guns crowding them out. :grin:

Yeah, I've noticed their barrels drooping a bit whenever I glance in their corner of the safe. Time to cheer them up. :grin:
