New toy inbound

I had a little bit of play money left from selling some stuff, and I wanted to get my sig. other something for all she has done for me (as well as stood by while I was away with the Marines). So when I saw a Weatherby Vanguard Youth in 308 for $360 NIB on gunbroker I went and bought it

. I think with some light loads it will be perfect for her, topped with a Vortex or Redfield 2-7x Scope and put into the Boyds stock she wants.

Sounds like a thoughtful gift. I'm sure the pictures will be appreciated. It sounds as if you got a good deal. The 308 is a great cartridge that will not let your down.

Also, having 308 brass available to neck down to 7mm08 doesnt hurt either

Congrats on the purchase, this would be the perfect application for the new 125 gr AccuBond that is coming out this year. The 130 gr TTSX or almost any 150 gr cup and core bullet would also be a great choice as well. Another great bullet to practice with is the 100 gr Speer Plinker, I have used them in the past in a 30-06 and still load them in a 303 British, they will work well on varmints up to coyotes. Glad you are able to have a great hunting partner.
