I like this rifle so much I just may end up getting another in 22-250. I'm beginning to enjoy the lighter "kickers" at this stage of life a lot more than shoulder thumpers.

You are commonly know to be suffering from lack of Firearms as I was afflicted with that same virus and now I have 8 Weatherby's  it's a very contagious virus and best wishes  mine is fixing to hit the chrony next range trip as it's supposedly doing 4000fps with Walmart White Box Winchester 45 gr JHP ! 26" tube 1-14 twist !

I've been thinking about this rifle, and this thread is not helping.......... Plus a Hunter Ed instructor discount makes it more enticing

I did not read that I don't need that it would entice me to build/buy more.

They certainly have a number of desirable cartridges they chamber it in, that probably makes it even harder I bet :)

I felt like my Sako .222 needed some brethren company in the safe and since I was so impressed with the Savage 243, I bought another Predator Hunter Max1 in 22-250 so, now they can share the safe side by side and I think I have enough .224 bullets to feed the both of them. Life is good. :)

Nice! That should be an excellent one! I have seen another one of them shoot little tiny groups with a little H380 and some 50BT's right outta the gate. Impressive little rifles.

That is the ultimate compliment to a rifle, buying a second one, congrats. I believe Savage uses a 1 in 12 twist on their 22-250's which gives you a bit more flexibility when it comes to feeding it.

I think so Gerry. My old Savage 22-250 did really well with 60 grain PTs.

gerry, you are correct as my nephew's Savage has a 1-12 twist and it is another tack driver. As I have said many times before they are not the prettiest rifle on the market but they sure do shoot .

Blessings,
Dan

From all I understand, the 12" twist should stabilize up to 60-65 gr bullets. The heaviest I have on hand are 55 gr Sierras but will try the 50, 52, 53 Bergers/Sierras I have as well.

I have a recent FN Winchester Model 70 in 270 and right out of the box it won't hold a candle to the Savage as for accuracy and it cost more-figure that one. After 3-5 shots it's laden with copper and I have to run some Bore Tech Eliminator and KG-12 through it followed by a dozen patches with KG-2, a mild abrasive. It's getting there but not quite as yet. No issues with the Savage 243.

As a matter of fact, that link is one of my tabs on my browser...looking at it yesterday afternoon. There's a lot of good info there. I got some info on the .243 from the same place.
