Hey Guys,

I'm back with a report and a question about figuring out your feet per second with a chrono??!

I am loading H1000 at 77grn through my Browning Abolt .300 win Mag.

I shot 8 rounds through a Caldwell® Ballistic Precision Premium Chronograph Kit, and out of 8 shots none of the readings were the same..

I got everything from 2916 to 2877. Am I not setting up the chrono right? It was overcast day, non reflective surface.. I got reading every time so that's good!!

Am I to just take all numbers into consideration and come up with a common denominator?

Thanks for all the help guys! Oh and by the way the Nosler AccuBond LR 190's really are sweet! I am ordering my turrit from Leupold as soon as I figure out this chrono deal!

That's a pretty decent spread. If the accuracy is where you want, then you may be able to try some other things to tighten up the spread. Or, if they are where you like them, load them up and see what they do further out.

Numbers can look skewed if you don't shoot over the screens exactly the same each time.

The variations you are seeing are very normal. Even though we all are careful about measuring out our powder charges other things come into effect that dictate velocity. Individual case capacity, primer performance, neck tension, and the other gremlins of ballistics make it so. Average your numbers and run with the average.

So here are all the numbers by shot:

1. 2907
2. 2892
3. 2898
4. 2911
5. 2877
6. 2916
7. 2890
8. 2878

So I figure 2900 feet per second!? Sound right?
