Nosler Competition Bullets!

Say - if you haven't used 'em and want a real good, accurate bullet, give the Nosler Competition bullets a try. I went out to the range today, with my good old .308 Win, and my usual 155 gr Nosler/Varget loads. Went prone, with a loop sling rigged. Dialed in the elevation and took a cold bore shot, ringing the gong at 466 yards! That's a nice way to start the range session!

After that I dialed down the elevation knob, adjusting for 300 yards and held left, into the wind a bit, then cranked off three rounds, from the sling supported prone position. Results were just as anticipated, nice!

Guys, these are very good bullets!

Yes, and some fine shooting also. While a good load is important, without good technique, the groups are simply not going to be there. Good job, Guy.

Guy those bullets are good. But the rifle/scope and the guy (no pun) pulling the trigger has to have it together also. Looks like its all in sinc.

Guy, that is really fine shooting and a very good understanding of your rifle, load and conditions. Have you ever used Nosler's target bullet on deer and other thin skinned game? If so what were your observations concerning the results? I know you are not supposed to use target bullets on game as they say but when I used some Sierra target 130gr bullets on deer it was devastating. Once again, very good shooter technique.

Thanks guys - the ol' Green Machine is a good shooting rifle and we're pretty used to each other after all these years of shooting together. Still, it's my fault when we miss! :grin:

Bullet - I've only used the Nosler comp bullets for target shooting.

I did have excellent results on game last season with the Berger VLD. Quite an interesting bullet for hunting. Took one mule deer buck, as well as coyote.

Normally I stick with good hunting bullets for hunting. Some, like the AccuBond and the Ballistic Tip can be as accurate, or nearly so, as match bullets.
