i need some info from some of the older shooters. my friend aquired a savage lever action rifle it has a rotary feed? uhh i havent seen it yet gonna try to get a pic later on to post said on barrel it is chambered in 25-3000? not sure if he read it right but figured i would ask he was offered 1,500 at gun smith, took it there to get it looked over. ill get some pics and get them posted later on tonight. thanks folks.

It's probably a .250-3000, AKA .250 Savage. The early Savage 99s had an internal rotary magazine with a brass spool that held the rounds in the magazine.

The rotary spool magazine was a neat feature of the Savage 99. Again, a rifle ahead of its time. That is a great little cartridge.

Awesome rifle! I have a 99 in 300 savage. I was unaware thta they were worth that much. Must be a special model.

Kurt is spot on, Older Savage 99.
One day I will find one .....

I was just apprised of a Savage 99 chambered in .284 for $999. Interesting! And maybe interested.

Check and see if it has a gold trigger if it does it's really rare.

I got one in 308 it's got an 18 1/2 inch barrel and weighs 5.5 pounds and kicks like a mule maybe I can play with it a bit put a pad on the metal buttplate and see what happens.

Uncle has one just like that and he can shoot 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards with the iron sights. Needless to say I can't see that good!

I can shoot half-inch groups with iron sights at two yards, provided it isn't windy.

What's a Savage 99 in .358 Win. worth? I haven't decided if I want to sell mine or not but I guess i would if offered enough.

Probably 10.00 or so Paul! I will give you 20 and pay for shipping though!

Just kidding with you but I haven't seen many of them go for less than 1500.00. I "THINK" they have to be one of the most sought after M99's as they are ridiculous in price but oh man, I would love to have one!

That Scotty, so generous and all heart. He's made similar offers to me and to others. Paul, I'd give you $25 and drive down to pick it up.

The Savage 99 was and is a great rifle.

Love the brass rotary magazine - too cool. Great little cartridge too, the .250 Savage, aka 250-3000 has a lot of history to it. Excellent performance on deer sized critters.

The 99 is another classic that I'd like to see made again - as long as the commitment to quality was there. Great rifles.

Mike, the offer stands for any of them old worn out 356's you have also! Just to help a mate out of course...

I don't think I've ever seen one in 7-08. That would be a nice rifle!
the day I bought it the guy had 3, a 358, a 375 win. and the 7mm/08, for the longest time I wished I'd have bought them all.
