Great! Now you're stimulating me to get out there! You've done well. Congratulations.

Congratulations, it would be nice to see more pics and hear a bit of a story in you can :) should be some excellent eating there.

Congratulations on a nice trophy she will make for some fine table fare this winter.
A story with a few more photos would make it complete

Blessings,
Dan

...well, after a few minor glitches w/ a new confuser, not being able to get pics transferred, signed into the board, etc.etc., I'll start over...

...from the front porch...

...rock I'm standing on is about center of the previous pic, glassing for elk...

...there they are (the brown line center between the pond & house on the otherside of the river, pay attention to the large white rock on the otherside of the river)...

...hiked back out to the truck, drove back down the mountain, & took off across to head 'em off about 2mi. from the road, my buddy jumped 'em & they took off down below me...

...not to hard to get a pic, but pretty hard to get a decent shoot @ a "clump" of elk moving 400yds. below ya...

...they were going down & across, so I went up & across. Most of the herd was already up & ahead of me, but I could see a few stragglers along the creek bottom as I was humping across so I kept pushing. She came over the ridge @ 130yds. as I was crossing the creek so I popped her w/ a 165gr. Sierra HPBT GK from the .300 WSM Tikka T3. She rolled down on the small bench, kicked a couple times, that was it...

...quartered her, packed the front shoulders a 1/2mi., instead of 2mi. out to the truck on our shoulders, went back w/ the packboards & brought out the hind quarters, it coulda been a lot tuffer...

Nice Story and Hunt!!

Those views are breathtaking. Man I miss the mountains.

That meat is gonna be so good on the grill.

...2nd elk doesn't open till the 1st, so a little deer hunting in between, right now is "antlered deer on NF" & I haven't seen anything w/ more horns than ears yet, but there's other stuff...

Yeah, those pictures will make the heart of a dedicated elk hunter pound a little harder. Great photos, Gene.
