I just experienced the opposite of the Canadian wedding topic. My buddy is getting a divorce and had to sell his marlin 1895.

It originally had 22" barrel but was bobbed to 19.25" to fit in his bow case. Full length magazine tube, Wild West trigger, extractor, and ghost ring sights, fiber optic front sight with pinned and windowed hood, with parkerized finish. I remember when we put it together for him three years ago. I test fired it back then and it was a great shooter.

It has a 1-5 Steiner scope on it. Heavy plex reticle. I doubt I'll keep the scope on it at very least I'll put a steel weaver rail parked to match the rest of the gun.

Now I got to get dies and components again. I knew I shouldn't have sold the last set I had!

Nice rifle! I like the way it has been set up.
Sorry to hear about your friend and hope it all works out for him.

Family break-up is sure hard on people. Good for you, however, taking the rifle. It looks like a fine firearm. Trust your friend is able to get back on his feet soon.

I hope that ultimately he will be able to buy it back, but until then I’ll play with it for a while. It is definately a no nonsense big game rifle.

Now I just have to try to find some components. It seems like there is nothing other than hornady brass available. I have always used starline brass and I’m not sure how the hornady will compare. But beggars can’t be choosers, so I guess I’ll order a box of 50 to get me started.

I”m pretty impressed with that stiener scope too. I havent really played with stiener optics before but this scope is very clear with great optical quality.

I'm pretty sure I have some Starline brass I'd like to sell...at least I think I still have that brass (a sure sign that one has too much stuff)

I know I have a set of RCBS dies I'd sell at a good price...let me know if you're interested.

What little Hornady brass I have is range pick up and is noticeably shorter than other brands to accommodate their Leverevolution rubber tipped bullets. I haven't shot the 45-70 in years and then only with my home cast bullets so I don't know how that's gonna work out. :( I don't know if their new brass for reloading will be short as well or if they sell in both lengths.
