Hi Guys,
I just picked up a nice 1911 that has very little shooting time on it but the finish is trashed. I was thinking of having it re-blued but have heard a lot of good things about parkerized finishes. I like the look of the parkerized finish but not sure how well it holds up compared to a hot blued finish. What has been your experience? This is going to be a gun that will be carried during hunts and will be exposed to the elements.

Parkerized guns can hold up quite well. Though if I'm going to send a gun off to be refinished I would proably go for one of the teflon based coatings. I really like the NP3 finish, it is self lubricating and will last a lifetime.

NP3 sure is nice. I found a local smith that does teflon finishes. I'm going to meet with him this week. Thanks for the info,
MIke
