Finally got to take my Ruger tang safety with a new 26" Shaw barrel 308 Norma Magnum to the range for a few test loads to see where it's at.I was quite impressed with the velocities.Groups where OK at 3/4",but a little load adjustment I think it will do better.I was expecting about 100fps less velocity, but really it was about as good as I'd expect from my 300 Win Mags.I think I'll try dropping down a grain or two to see if they tighten up,but I really didn't see any pressure signs with these loads.I shot one round with a 180gr Nosler Ballistic Tip loaded with 71.0grs of Hunter and it clocked at 3105fps.I used necked up Winchester once fired 7mag brass for my loads.I do have some Norma cases coming,so I'll have to compare the case capacity of the brass once I get them. There is just not a whole lot of load data out there for the 308 Norma Magnum and there are a lot more powders out there as well as bullets since the original data was compiled.I'd like to see a Quick Load for the 308 Norma Magnum,26" barrel 168gr Nosler Ballistic Tip and 180gr Nosler Balistic Tip.I have plenty of types of powder,I'll most likely be trying A-4350,IMR-4350,Hunter,Reloader-22 and Reloader-26.
