Woke up to the news that DJT will be president, this will be interesting.
Leaving at 0500 for Canada, figure to be in Lake Louise by late afternoon. On to Grande Prairie on Thursday start hunting moose near Spirit River on Friday. Seems like a lot of folks are threatening to move to Canada, hope it doesn’t’ take too long to get through the boarder.

Good morning for sure Don. Good luck at the border.

Have a good hunt! I’ll say a lot of the same celebrities will try to flee the US before the prosecutor in the Diddy case seizes their passports

Best of luck to you Don.
Safe travels and have fun!

Up early but waiting for light. Drove 548 miles yesterday looking at 472 today. The drive from Union County Oregon to CDA is boring, done it 100 times or more. From there North on 95 it just gets better. Took a little time at the border.
Mixed messages on the internet so I went with the cautious approach and submitted Customs form 4457 on the us side. Officer there told me it could save time coming home. He happened to be a fan of #1s and was intrigued by the work Paul Hampton did on my rifle.
Didn't mind the break from driving.
Drove across to Canada, pull into lane two. "Leave your damn gun in the vehicle, understand?" There is only one correct response, Yes sir.
I walked in with all the required paperwork my passport, form 4457 and a copy of my outfitters contract.
Very nice young woman, we've changed the form, please fill this out,
Casual 20 questions from her while I'm doing the paperwork.
I was a Field Training officer for 15 years, she was well trained, I know the drill but still stepped in it.
Will you drive all night to GP? She had just slid my stamped permit across the counter. No, planning to stay at lake Louise Inn.
I'm sorry she says, that's in the park, you can't stay there with a fire arm.
Let's call the head Warden to confirm. Nope he says, adding it happens all the time and if we find out well it could ruin your trip.
Radium hot springs is on your way perhaps you could stay there. Customs officer pulls up a map, still talking to Ranger Rick, I agree to the solution, and I'm off again.
45 minutes spent by two officers solving my screw up. I like Canada.
Time to go find coffee

Yeah, everyone is afraid of rifles. And that's only grown worse under Mr Trudeau. I used to live in Jasper National Park, and even though I had Park wardens in my congregation, they were artsy about my rifles.

I’m already up here. Every Canadian within earshot was really happy about the election results. They’d like to do the same to Trudeau.

That has been my experience as well. Stopped to eat in Jasper, the destruction from last summer's fire is incredible. Some folks working hard to build things back up.

Good looking meal. Where'd you eat? There weren't many of our old haunts open when we were there a few weeks ago.
