I realise that, I was asking the question of elkhunternm sorry for the confusion.

It appears RL 26 does great in the 280 AI as well.
I'm getting 2850 fps with the 160 gr NP from a 22" barrel.

Thanks.

Just picked up a pound of RL 26. What are the preferred recipes for a 280 Remington and 150gr Pt bullet?

Ok I got a chance to get to the range today to check out a few loads using RL26 and Hornady 143 ELDX bullets in my 6.5 Creedmoor.
26" barrel Nosler brass BR2 Primers 2.890"OAL
I tested with a Magnetospeed installed. Three shot groups.

46gr. 2872 fps average vel. ES 13 SD 6.5
46.5gr 2908 fps average vel. ES 6 SD 3
47gr 2939 fps average vel. ES 10 SD 5.5
47.5gr 2954 fps average vel. ES 11 SD 5.85
48gr 2999 fps average vel. ES 12 SD 6.6
48.5gr 3029 fps average vel. ES 13 SD 6.65
49gr 3054 fps average vel. ES 19 SD 9.6 *
*this load was compressed I had to use a drop tube to get all the powder in.

48grs had best group of .216"ctc 49gr was not too bad at .567"ctc
group average center was same point of impact between 47.5 gr. and 49 gr.
I am going to work on loads up and down from 48 gr. and try longer and shorter COAL.
No sign of pressure observed and when I popped the primers from the 48.5 and 49 gr loads they were just as tight as the lightest load.
I will do all the rest of my load work up without the Magnetospeed installed and check velocity after I have arrived at the most accurate load.
Then I move on to distance.
Also I have 200 of the Nosler AccuBond Long Range 142 gr bullets coming in to check out.

I also use RL26 in 300WSM -190LRAB, and my 6.5x284 Norma -142 LRAB.
Very good accuracy and great velocity.

Do you mind giving me your load data for both the 300 wsm and Norma. I just started to load both of these with RL26 and just curious to see where you ended up. Advice on starting loads with the Norma would be appreciated, too.

thanks
Doug

2850 from a 160/270......22" barrel....
I wouldn't be shocked to see some 160 factory ammo in 7 mag not do better over a chrono!

You aren't kidding. The Federal 160 Partition stuff I've ran over a chrono used to run 2920 from a 26" barreled 7 RM. Its not too far apart.

26 is awesome in my 270/7mm WSM, and a bunch of others. I've been working with it quite a lot in my 6.5 Swede and 140's and so far it's looking really good.

I may give it a shot in my 7mm Mashburn Super as well. It just seems like it should fit there with a lot of bullets in the 150-175 range. It was pretty good in my old rifle with 150 ETips.

I think 270/280 fellas will really like it with the heavier Bullets. It's an absolute screamer in the 25-06 with 100 grain Swifts.

You guys are really making me mad....lol.
Our gun shop does a great job of stocking everything but they just will not bring in the new reloader powders... they are telling me that they are too pricey but I've seen the whole sale prices on Re 26 and 16 and they're actually pretty reasonable.... maybe they're distributor is trying to gouge them or something but I know the Hodgdon prices have gone up too..
I don't get shooting near as much as I used to because I'm taking care of a family illness for years now otherwise maybe I'd bite the bullet them order a bunch of it and pay the Hazmat I have a inventory for myself.... in the meantime you guys keep doing the hard work of the load development.....lol. by the time I get around to it there will be something new anyhow!

Kraky, it's the only powder I keep two 8lb'ers of. I use it for just about everything.. cornflakes, pizza, spaghetti

I just shot R-26 in my 6.5 Creedmoor with 147 ELD-M's today along with 225gr ELD-M's in my 300wsm. The top load of 147's was 2870fps in a 25" barrel. The 225's went 2908fps with 68grs. One each of 66, 67, and 68grs went into .370". Considering the wind was blowing 30+mph, and we had to try and block it with the truck, I didn't think that was bad.

It's a 26" Brux barrel on a Remington long action. With 215 Bergers the COAL is 3.195". So it's throated long. With the 225 ELD-M's I was at 3.155 to be .020" off the lands.

1:8...1:9? I was thinking with a standard Factory rifle those 225 would be so long they'd sitting about a quarter inch off the primer...lol.

Man, that's incredible speed for the 6.5CM... Talk about a little package that thinks it's big.

I would be very interested in any data you have for the 7WSM and RE26.

My dad just shot his over 3000fps with 48.5grs of R-26 using a 147 ELD-M. There weren't any apparent signs of pressure but he will have to see what the primer pockets are like.

Dang I just now loaded up 15 rounds for an OCW test with RL16 in my 6.5 Creedmoor. Looks like I'm gonna have to try some RL26 now. Those are indeed great speeds you were getting.
