Has anyone had stellar results with this combo? I would be interested in hearing about your results.

I was really interested in using this powder since I have 4 pounds of it.

I would think that you will get really good velocities out of this combo. I am using it in a M70 Featherweight 7x57. 49 grains is pushing the 150 ABLR 2920 FPS @ 3.18" OAL in a 22" barrel. Accuracy has been slightly under MOA so far.

That sounds incouraging. Hoping for around 3100 in a 26 inch barrel, but will inevitably stop where the accuracy is.

Curious where people using this combo have found their accuracy node. Feeling like this will be a top notch deer getter.

JD338 will probably come along here soon and give you his combination. It is quite the performer and wait till you see the groups he is getting with his .280 AI !!

I will look forward to hear what he has to say. I bought the R17 to work up a load in my 30-06 but H4350 works so well, I see no point in messing with it.

Heard rumors folks were getting positive results with R17 in the 280 Ackley improved, so looking forward to working with it.

I am using RL-17 in my 30-06, pushing 190gr ABLR out of my 22in savage barrel at 2768fps. It seems to be working brilliantly. My best groups are .6in at 100 yards. I have only punched holes in paper so far but I hope to try it on elk this weekend. I imagine that it will work well in the 280AI and think it would be worth a try.

As far as the 150gr ABLR, my son is using that with his 7mm-08 and it is devastatingly effective. We recovered one from a quartering away shot and it weighed 98gr. It expanded well and there was no separation.

I don't hunt with it every year but have 280AI that my go to load is R-17 with 160gr AB and Fed 215 primer. When I had that rifle build I order two barrel and had 284 build and both barrels finished 27". I'm also using R-17 in that rifle and I've also used IMR-7828ssc and H-4831sc in the 280AI. The 284 I did try 150gr ABLR and Barnes 145gr LRX bullets and shot pretty good and I do have another 280AI that my wife used to hunt with (she decided to bow hunt) and that one has 25" Krieger barrel. If she decides to hunt again or if she lets me use it, it be with the 150gr ABLR and I used Nosler data with IMR-7828.

The 27" barrel 280AI I've also shot Berger 168gr/180gr VLD and 162gr ELD-X bullet. I haven't had any problems with R-17 and I've had it below 0 on 4th season bull hunt here in Co.

Well good luck
