OK so my buddy needs to go hunting this weekend with his Savage 7mm rem mag. Now I did work up a load with the 150 Etip but he burned them all up and no Etips to be had locally so I worked up a load from scratch with what I had on hand. Not too shabby for a one day work up!!

Then came my 30-06 Tikka T3 Superlite.

Then the big PITA the 30-378 all with retumbo

any advise on the 30-378?

All 30-378 loads COAL 3.725"

and yes the 180 accubonds were smoking!

Not too shabby at all! Fine accuracy and sizzling velocities--what more could one ask.

Only good accuracy from that 30-378 Mike.

Maybe if I seat them deeper? Or shoot them at 200 see if they settle. They are both long bullets.

The 30-06 and 7mm mag loads are well known, published loads that I've used myself and are highly recommended. Good work.

No idea about the 30-378 though. I've never worked with it.

Glad you could help your buddy, and best wishes for success for both of you! (y)

I'm really, Really Not a 30/06 fan, but I have to say I'd take that 165 PT load and run out the back door before anybody else could get their hands on it, everyday !

My 7/08 would be pissed as hell at me though.

Fotis,

It could be that your 30-378 may not like that bullet.
Have you tried to seat them a little further out instead of deeper?
Try both ways, see if it makes any difference.
That kind of accuracy isn't that bad, but I know, compared to your other Bee rifles, and the accuracy I've seen from them, the groups from that one are a tad bigger, but not shabby.

I know Weatherby likes to have long throats, maybe they made the 30-378 a little longer to help with not having excessive pressures.

I would try seating them a little deeper in your big 30 Fotis. Try backing them off .020 at your best charge and see what happens.

Sorry, no experience with the 30-378. But that is an excellent day at the range, congratulations.
Great groups from the Savage and Tika. Question...does the WLP (in the 30-06 load) stand for the Winchester Large Rifle primer?
Thanks,
Duane
