Need recommendations on recoil pads. Looking into a "prefit" type. What experience has everyone had with different ones.

I really like the Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad. Mine is a grind to fit.
Limb Saver s seem to get sticky on the end.

I have heard that about limbsaver and wanted to check with the people in the know.

LimbSaver had a run of pads that turned to gel. The problem seems to have been solved. Either a LimbSaver or a Pachmayr Decelerator graces each of my rifles.

I have three rifles now that I have switched to Limbsavers pads and all three are fine after a couple years of use. I think that Simms had a process clitch which they seem to have fixed.

Given the choice, I'll always choose Pachmayr Decelerators.

I have all Limsavers on my rifles. Good pads and seem to hold up fine as well. They work great at reducing recoil. Scotty

You need one on the 35 Whelen

...recoil pads are for sissies. Real men still shoot Model '95's w/ a steel butt plate!!!

(my first "real" rifle, when I was 13 & weighed in @ 85#s, think I've still got some bruises left over from that beast...)

Do you hear that bus Scarface? I will let you tell the story from last weekend. I actually thought the 35 had no pad.

I have no shame. While slung up shooting from the sitting at 300 yard steel the Whelen jumped up and cut my brow! It does jump around a bit but I really don't have any issues with it. The danged VXII doesn't have a rubber eye cup. Scotty

Most of mine now have the LimbSaver pad, but I like the Decellerator for the looks after It's finished. The Limbsaver is hard for me to get ground perfectly, maybe if it was frozen before grinding? The actual best pad I ever had for recoil reduction was a KickEeze sorbithane pad, but the looks and durability were not the best. I've never had a lot of luck with buying pre-fit pads as the stock needs to be cut on most rifles to get the perfect L.O.P. If KickEeze still exists, they made a coating for pads that made them slick so they wouldn't drag on your coat. I think it was called SlickEeze??

I have the Pachmyer on two rifles and really like them. I put a Limbsaver on my 375R, it was sure a heck of a lot better than the thin hard factory one thats for sure. I'm not sure if one is better than the other though.

Both are way better than most factory pads though!

I have multiple rifles with LimbSaver pads, quite a few with Pachmayr Decelerator pads, and one or two with Kick-Eze pads. All help tame recoil; all are infinitely superior to many of the factory pads. I just picked up a Ruger Hawkeye chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor, and though there is not significant recoil with that cartridge, I'll still replace the pad (such as it is) with an after-market pad, likely a LambSaver.

I have Pachmayr's on my 35 Whelen and 264 WM and a Limbsaver on the 375 Ruger, they all work well only the 260 has it's original pad. The 264 WM didn't really need such a good pad but but had to choose one for the Edge stock so why not go with good one? It is very comfortable to shoot though. The 375 Ruger's "recoil pad" really sucked but the Limbsaver helps a lot. Overall like the others have said the Limsaver is a bit better at soaking up recoil but I really like the Pachmayr as well and they have been very durable.
