Reloading AccuBond using RCBS reloading dies. The seater plug leaves a mark on the bullet and some times gets stuck in the seater plug.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I ordered Hordady seating dies and will try them when they arrive. RCBS' solution is to order custom dies however that solution will be more costly than purchasing Hornady dies.

Texas Hunter,

Welcome to the forum, glad you are here.

The seater plug cuts a ring around the bullet because the seater plug does not fit the bullet you are using. You can polish the inside of the seater with Emory cloth and a drill.

I had the same issue seating 30-06.

For what it is worth, Redding dies frequently make the same marks. Forster dies have never left such a mark on bullets during seating.

I have the same issue with mine in 30-06. You can actually feel the ring with my fingers so I worry about it when it is flying.

For all practical purposes, the ring does not affect ballistics. This is especially true at what would be considered normal hunting distances. The ring is, however, unattractive.

I guss that is good to know. I think that I will pollish it to get rid of it. If not I will get new dies. I have some Hornadys that are not bad dies at all.

Yes welcome Texas Hunter!! Redding dies would grab my 375Wby TSX bullets and pull them out of the case I had just seated them in. I had to do what JD338 suggested.
