Just picked up a Savage 99 in 300 Savage. Would like to reload 150gr BT in it. Any suggestions.

I have a 300Savage bolt gun and settled on 125gr NBTs in front of 40.0grs of RL 7, Fed 210M. Tried several 150gr bullets but the rifle didn't like them as much as the 125s.Rick.

I have heard on another board that one guy's 99 in 300 wouldn't shoot 150gr boattails, but would shoot flat base 150's. I think the 125 idea may be a good one, you can get more velocity out of them, and they are plenty for deer, which is likely the only thing you'll go after with this caliber.

I load the 170 Grn Part. over Alliant Reloader 15.

Does a great job on Whitetail Deer.

My favorite "go to" Deer rifle.

Regards,

I loaded some up a few weeks ago...for the same modle gun.....I will get the data and pass it along...shot very well out the gun...same bullet also.

I loaded 36.0gr IMR4895 with 150 BT. Shoots great, will hold to about 1- 11/2" groups if I do my part. I'll be on an antlerless deer hunt in about a week and half and I'll let you know how they do.
