I just purchased a model 700 vlss Remington in a .204 Ruger and have found yhere is not much relaoding data available.

While searching I have found the basic COL, various powders, and charge weights , min. and maxium loads.

What I am having problems finding is the most accurate powder for the 40gr ballastic tip.

If any of you fellows are shooting the 204 and have come up with the most accurate powder and charge this info would be appreciated.
Of course I realize each rifle is different but this would give me a good starting point.
Thanks,
David

Has both a forum, and pages full of excellent load data for the little cartridge. There's a lot of discussion about loading the .204 there. Well worth a look!

I just started handloading for the .204 a few months ago - and haven't done as much as I would have liked.

You can also try here for info on the BT specifically:

It appears that Varget may be a good choice, as the most accurate load Nosler found with it does just over 3500fps. Max charges are higher, above 3600, but apparently did not show as good accuracy in the test rifle.

Choice powders include: H335, Varget, H322, H4895 and in that order for my gun. My most accurate tesing with 40 B-tip was with 26.8 H335 but I don't shoot a Remington.
