...what happened??? Other than the video of its' intro @ the Shot Show & a little discussion of the same, not a peep. Scheduled for release late Apr./ May, Graf has it listed, "out of stock", can't find a single mention of it on the Alliant site...

:?:

I'd guess that it will be released, just not on the schedule they had hoped for. Powder companies tend to be optimistic about release dates. Also, hyping the release generates anticipation in those who will use the product.

I was just looking around for an update as well, and came up with nothing.....weird to me that other than their announcement at SHOT that they have absolutely no mention of it on their website. I'm anxious to try it out in my 338LM with the 300AB. Hopefully we'll see it before the fall.....

...I'm not interested in the hype...

What would you run it in Gene?

I think it would be good in my 264, but I have such a good load with RL25, I would be scared to monkey with it... I would if you did though!

...right off the bat, I would see about bumping my 175gr. GrandSlams up 100-200fps out of the A-Bolt Stainless Stalker's 26" barrel...

...RL-17's "embedded buffer" makes sense to me, mixing it directly into the powder instead of spraying it on after the fact sounds like it would be more consistent, & creating a better pressure curve. I'm getting higher, more consistent MV's from the WSM's, & a few others w/o pushing, whereas my experience w/ Superformance was just the opposite. I was getting good accuracy, but started getting pressure signs under suggested max, & the velocities were more like "Bleh" than "Super". Using the RL-33 behind the heavier bullet in the .325 WSM might have some possibilities...

The hold up on RL 33 is getting final agency approvals. Should be done and ready to ship this summer.
I am looking forward to trying RL 33 in my 338 RUM. I just bought a 8 lber of Retumbo so I am covered for now.

Since RL25 does well and Retumbo does really well in my 30-378 I think RL33 should rock!

I think it'll be fun to work it.

Gene, are you talking your 7RM with the 160's? If so I happen to have a Model 7RM that is going to need some load work when I return and a bunch of 175 PT's that could get some use. Let me know how you make out with it. I am always ready for something that'll give less pressure at the same or more speeds..

Let's see maybe the 200 AB out of my 300 RUM at 3200-3250 fps?

I read this and thought that "now" must mean the next 150 loads or so, right Jim? That RUM certainly eats the Retumbo, I imagine!

WM,

8 lbs will yield 612 rounds.

They should just make pre-primed 6-Packs of Retumbo that are already necked to .300 or .338.... that way all you'd have to do is seat a bullet and fire away. Plus.... you'd look pretty sweet hauling a couple of half-racks of Reeeeeeee--Tuuuuuummmmmm--Booowwwwwwww (ah yeah, like the Rainier Beer commercials.... ) out of the store.

Data that I recieved from Alliant didn't quite live up to what the SHOT show video was hyping.
I'll probably still try some when it becomes available.

...data from Alliant for RL-17 is very conservative compared to my actual MV, most Alliant data seems very conservative...
