I got my M700 280AI back from the gunsmith. I had the action dropped into a LSS stock which was pilar bedded.
The action has been blueprinted. The barrel is a Hart #5 flutted 24".
Scope is a Mark 4 4.5x14PR with factory M1 dials installed.

Well that's about as nice a rifle as a fellow could wish for! I suspect that you're about to be shooting with very good accuracy. Good looking rifle, Hart makes a great barrel. How's the balance & weight with that fairly sturdy barrel on there?

Let us know how it shoots...

I just purchased a rem 700 lss 50th aniversary ltd edition in 280. It shot quarter sized groups with remington factory loads.
I neck sized, turned the neck, and loaded 160 ab"s with RL22 and can't wait to get back to the range.

Nice rifle there JD. Hey, is that your backyard? You don't need your Ackly to hunt there.

Thanks for the compliments.

270fan,
Weight is 9.5 lbs.

Long,

Any time now for the pistol wood.
I'll post pics when they arrive.

30 whisper,

The stock is a Remington LSS.
I think she turned out pretty nice.

Looks to me like Hart makes a mighty fine barrel (no surprise there) and Nosler makes a mighty fine bullet. No surprise there either! Great shooting!

I went out to the range this afternoon to do some shooting. Too windy to go long so I just shot 100 yds.
Here is a pic of my best group with my 280AI and the 160 gr AB.
280AI.jpg

3 shots outside spread is .376", .092" c to c.
My second best group measured outside spread .523", .239" c to c.
If the wind dies down, I'll shoot 200, 300, and 400 yds.

JD,

Thats a bit better than I can do with my Sako 280. The question is . . . is it the rifle or the shooter? Maybe a little bit of both
