This is all in good fun mates. Hope nobody is taking it any differently. I really like them all for the most part.

I'm so deeply offended that I may have to buy another Remington on my next trip home.

Your about due anyhow Kurt. It's been too long since I've heard of a new one in your mitts!

Jeez, Gunny, my last new rifle thread was on the 11th of this month! And that was for two rifles! You're holding me to a standard I'm not sure I can keep up with.

I just came back in and started reading again. I'm certainly glad I didn't have a cup of coffee in my hands when I read these last posts.

Wow, i can't believe the 1911 bashing going on here. I can't believe someone would throw a 1911 away to pick up a piece of plastic to shoot with! That's just crazy.

You know why they call it a 1911?

Because for every 19 times you pull the trigger.... It jams 11 times.

Guess I should let 70% of all U.S. law enforcement agencies know about that. Just throw those Glock pistols away.

That would be a good start! Let me know when you draft the letter. I will endorse your findings.

I agree SE.. But it's Brian were talking about, he has a small holding in Glock and the Goodyear Rubber factories they are made from!

Songdog, when your over 65 you "will" take anything you can get. There's a lot to be said about quality over quantity.

Are you still talking about rifles?

Or are we talking about women again?

And that's after you spend $500+ having it "tuned". Don't see myself doing that again. Never had a problem with a plastic gun right out of the box. I like 1911s but just a few better tools made for what I use them for. And for a whole lot less money!

To be sure, I love a good 1911. They're beautiful machines, and they are fun to look at, hold, and shoot. But when my arse is on the line, and the crap is hitting the fan, I'll take my ugly Glock that always does the same thing, no matter what, every time. Give me my Glock 23, a couple of hi-cap mags full, and a reasonably high level of awareness, and I think I've at least got a decent shot at coming out alive, pardon the pun. A defense pistol is like a wrench or a screwdriver to me. It should be simple, and work every time. It's just another tool with a very specific purpose. It doesn't need to look pretty, it just needs to fit my hand and work, every time. And the Glock does that.

Now, as for rifles, I'm watching all this with glee as I know y'all Remmie and Winnie fans are both off the mark. Get a Weatherby Mark V and you'll never look back. Well worth the cost, and will outshoot all the rifles in my safe (Rem/Win/Browning) except one - my Colt Light Rifle. Interestingly, that one came from Saco Defense, which is where the first US-built Mark Vs came from. Coincidence? I think not!

Can I get an AMEN!!! Just cause its made of plastic doesn't make any less lethal than the 1911. Ultra reliable out of the box and no one can say otherwise. High cap mags means awhole lot in a high stress situation. The Avg person will have a hard time to stand and deliver rounds on target. I always ask anyone that has a CCW a few questions. What pistol do you carry? What kind of rounds to you use? How much do you practice with that pistol and carry rounds? Most people carry 38 snubs or 380s cause they are easy to carry. Ever tried deep concealment with a full size 1911? I have tried with several holsters and different carry methods. I'm a big guy and it just didn't work for me.

Never had a jam with my 1911's. Only with my plastic glock. There must be a bunch of limp wristed shooters around here!

Ha! That is Funny!

A plastic butter knife can be lethal as well, but that doesn't mean I want to carry one (except to butter my biscuits).

Wow the owners of the "other" brands of rifles sure got off topic quick. They must feel the superiority of the Remington name.

They must feel the superiority of the Remington name.

I'm so pleased to hear that an old line American manufacturing firm has something for which they can be superior, if only the name.

Man, your right, we drifted hard on this... Back to the Remingtons! Did you guys know Remington made a 1911? HA!

If you're carrying a Weatherby, you don't need a 1911.
