Remington Owners Unite :)

I was just told that I will be holding a new rifle soon and its not a Remington or a Winchester
Now I am really excited

Blessings,
Dan

Yes you can if you can post a photo to prove it  I sometimes wonder if I just dreamed it :)

Blessings,
Dan

I'll sneak around and post a photo, when I get a chance. It is a fine looking rifle--very business-like.

I recall that post, and I commend you for your restraint in not naming Brian as the author of said affirmation. Remington owners secretly long to hold a Winchester when in the field. It is evident as you see the longing glances at the lithe, lethal rifle held in the hands of the noble hunter properly armed with a rifle turned out under the name of Winchester.

It's okay Mike.. At least he is properly arming himself. Took awhile, but he saw the light!

I will admit to having a secret love affair with that M70 338 Win Mag. But it has to do with the way it's setup and not the name on the side. I think Scotty offered and I jumped at the chance to carry it. 12.5 pounds of rifle was not much fun to carry after that second day.

You young guys have no trouble carrying around those rifles. I enjoy northern Saskatchewan ask a farmer then set up for the dawn & dusk. Farmland hunting has really spoiled this old timer

Blessings,
Dan

The whole Remington safety has me almost wanting to go back to a Winchester.

They make 3 position safeties for Remington bolts.
Where would a person find one of these three position safeties?

This young feller does. I want no part of a rifle much over 8.5-9lbs for carrying in the mountains! That is why the CDL and 338 get so much use!

I am not sure it matters what is written on the side of the rifle, but it is set up that way by Winchester from the get go, so It does have a little bit to do with the end result!.....

Dan, I am really looking forward to the pictures of your 35 Whelen.. Got a feeling your going to fall in love all over again..

Dubyam, didn't mean to ruffle any feathers and having been out of LE for almost 20 years maybe my thinking is somewhat old school but I took the time to chat with one of the shooting team investigators who was involved in the incident and found the following: The incident took place at roughly 10PM. Traffic was light and the officer, upon stopping the vehicle shined his spotlight in the rear window as was normal practice at that time and probably played a significant role in saving his butt. As he exited his vehicle the shooter also exited and began firing. The officer ducked behind the door (window down), came out the left side slightly and returned fire, striking the perp two times. During the investigation eleven 9MM shell casings were found. Two bullets struck the door which the officer was behind. Believe it or not neither penetrated completely. Four other holes were found in the police vehicle and the rest went god knows where. The perp was as high as a kite and this apparently played a large part in his great accuracy. The incident was subesquently used as a training tool and when I became an instructor I remember it still being used. The fellow I spoke with agreed on the finding cover part so as to keep your butt from getting perforated. Not knocking Thunder ranch as I know they are very professional and teach many good things but Law enforcement and the military are two different items and although they teach to both entities the street cop has a different job than the soldier.

@BRM - my feathers weren't ruffled, I can assure you. I like a good dialogue with valid points on both sides, and I agree with a lot of what you're saying. I'd take a single shot pistol if that's all I could shoot accurately. And I'm huge on cover. I'm a big guy (6'2", 235) so I make an easy target. Thus, I think about what I can hide behind, and what I can shoot from behind, a lot. And you're right - what applies in personal defense is different than LE which is different than Military, in many ways. It's good to hear from folks who have actual experience, as all of mine has been drills on the range and what I can gather from sources like yourself and professional trainers. One of these days I'd like to go to gunsite or TR or somewhere for a week-long course to really hone my skills. And, I pray every day I'll never need to test my abilities. I pray y'all don't, either!

Thanks for the respectful dialogue. Makes for a great board when we can explore our views without calling each other names.

How very true. I commend those who regularly post on this board. Their attitude always ensures that this will be a most instructive forum.

Wow, been busy lately - I just looked at this topic again. Hadn't peeked after about page two or three...

Talk about off-topic!

Figured I'd be seeing a lot of guys with their Remington 700's and dead critters... Nope, we've got Scotty showing us training stuff with machineguns, guys debating Glock vs 1911, talking about how nice looking Angelina Jolie is... Good grief!

I do like my two Remington rifles. Also like my three Winchester rifles. Machineguns are lots of fun, and a good thing to have in battle. I can shoot a Glock and have a lot of respect for them, but I'll keep my 1911 thank you. And yes, Angelina is real purty.

The haters couldn't stand the thought of this tribute thread and waylaid it. Us aficionados recognized their immature and jealous motive and decided to go to the range and shoot bugholes instead.

No worries, the truth is revealed each fall from what is hung on the game poles. :p

I have no idea what you are saying. Besides, I'm on my way out the door to go to the range and shoot bug holes with my Winchesters.
