Do any of you own or have experience with this rifle? I'm a little interested in the 204 chambered model. I've never owned an AR style rifle but I'm in the military, go figure. I think it might be kind of fun to use calling coyotes and prairie dog shooting both. I'm kicking around the possibily of trading my CZ rifle and Buckmark 22 for one. What do you think?

Yote,

I think they are pretty nice rifles. Remington bought Bushmaster........
If it were me, I would go with a 223 Rem. Brass is cheap and more abundant than 204 and you are going to need a lot of brass to feed her
With the fast twist barrel, the 60 gr BT will make for a great coyote bullet in the AR.

Yote,

I had a flat-top DPMS heavy barrel in their cheper line. .223 Cal

When it was really cold out I didn't like the way it operated, but truth be told, it was probably somehting I wasn't doing with it that I should have been. It was a very accurate rifle and a blast to shoot.

I hated cleaning it however, and I don't do any type of crip when I do my hand loads so I became a little nervous. I traded it for my current Rem 700 VTR.

They are a great way to get some lead in the air after the yotes however

I hear you JD, however I've prolly got 1000 peices of 204 brass and half of that is loaded already, granted to my CZ's liking and I've got about 500 20 cal V-max bullets ready to load.

Go 204 Ruger.

I had one for the last year. It was the 18" barrel with the six position stock. Loved it, sold it to buy a long range .243, love it more. The R-15 is a good rifle, mine shot under an inch all day. Worked grat for calling!

I would think an AR rifle set up correctly would be a great coyote rifle. Fast follow up shot, short and not overally heavy. The 204 Ruger would be a pretty cool zapper. Scotty

I thought maybe I could trade my CZ527 and Buckmark both with extra goodies and come out pretty close on an R-15 I saw in a shop here locally. After what they "offered", I don't plan to ever step foot back in the place ever again. Oh well, I thought it would be a fun gun to play with. Maybe one will turn up somewhere but for now, I'm plenty happy with the accuracy I get with my bolt gun and the 22 is just a fun little pistol to mess around with that shoots better than I can.

I don't think you could go wrong with it. Just keep it clean and lubricated.
