Retirement!

Jim, enjoy your retirement and hope you both are able to do all that you have hoped and planned for in retirement!

While I still have a ways to go too reach that point to retire...
Susan and I have just booked our trip to New Zealand to make up for our honeymoon that life managed to delay for 12 years...and have booked the hunt for red stag for me, fallow deer for both of us, and an arapawa ram for Susan. Doing it now, while we can!
It is going to be a challenge for Susan, as she just had her ankle fused last week and is not weight bearing for 13 weeks. The outfitter has said that it will not be a problem and can accommodate her mobility issues and ensures that she will be provided access to the areas for her animals via vehicle or utv, and have opportunities for both at approx 100-200 yards. (so far he recovery is going better than anticipated! a lot less pain than she has had for several years!)
We were also going to add a trip over to Australia for a sambar hunt in the area of the Snowy Mountains, but things are just not aligning for that at this time. Will try again at another time.

As stated above...doing what you can, while you can!

Welcome to the Old Folks group. At times I find myself working more than when I drove my truck and sometimes harder. I do miss the traveling and meeting new people on a daily basis. The first couple of months you may find yourself wondering what to do next with all the time you have on your hands.
Enjoy the freedom.

Thank you fellas, your thoughts and comments are truly appreciated. Yes, I have several immediate projects to work on
- finish cutting the invasive species like Russian Olive and Multi Floral Rose in area 1 (9.35 acres) and treat with Garlon4
- build 2 carts for tractor implements, grapple and tiller specifically
- start working on the finishing the pole barn interior, going to insulate with spray foam and finish the walls and ceiling with metal. The barn is 40x60x14' side walls.
Got to put in my application to WY for Shiras Moose and Antelope. Fingers crossed for that one!
I'm not going to miss working.

When you’re done you can come over and finish mine😁.

That shop looks way too organised, way too neat, Jim. It's making me feel inadequate! 🥴

Looks great, Jim! Those carts will be really handy and make hooking up the equipment a lot easier. Dan

I copied a dolly off of a youtube video for my 3pt backhoe. The best thing I did for it. It used to take over an hour to either take off or put on. Now I push the dolly up under the backhoe use the hydraulics to set it on it and pull pins and uncouple hoses. Done.
You’re going to like your carts.

Thanks fellas. Keeping it clean and tidy is the plan. The carts allow me to easily move implements around by myself and hook ups will be quick and easy. I also need to move them around, especially when I start working on finishing up the inside of the pole barn. I'm hoping to have that finished before next winter. Having many Saturdays will expedite the completion.

I agree Rick. Then there's the safety aspect too.
I made one for the flail mower. That thing weighs 850 lbs. Only options to move it are the tractor or a cart.

I hear you. Most of my attachments are on the floor in a line of mess. Seems like the one I need is always in the middle. I have to pull up the pants and yank out what I need. Winter I load the up on my trailer to free up some room.

Thanks Jim, now Catherine wants me to build carts for the implements. When I get home I'll get in touch. I'm hoping but betting she doesn't forget. I may need you t send me a sketch!

No problem Don. Happy to help you with that project. They are easy to make and moving them around with 400-800 lb implants on them is easy. I'll waive the consulting fees. 😉
