No flies on the T-3 in 6.5x55. My grandson now has my 6.5x55, a 550 FS, CZ that I bought about 13 years ago.

Gerry, I've noticed a price increase here in Canada, don't know about the US though?..Expect a $200 price increase for 2014 for the Sako 85's  ..I'm checking out the Bavarian in .375 H&H this weekend, if it looks and feels good, I'm gonna jump on it at the old pricing, and leave a deposit on it. I don't need two 375's, so I might unload the Kodiak?, ..Heck, my 7mag is a Bavarian, so I might as well have my 375 H&H in the Bavarian as well, I'll keep ya posted, as of now, it's been put on hold for me until Sunday. (I need to think hard on this one)

The Model 85 Sako's seem to be going up in price here as well. Plus they do not offer the Hunter in anything but stainless this year.

Yes, I'm not surprised at all...I paid $1725 for the Bavarian in 2013, if in stock, the price remains the same, otherwise now they go for almost $2100 (if you can get one).

Sako 85 Kodiak was $1850 last year, now almost $2200.

These prices are before taxes

That's a big, and I mean GINORMOUS, increase in monetary payment.
What gives? I figure a 10% "bump" but here we're talking north of 30% if my fuzzy math is correct. :(

Sad to hear of the price increase, I may need to try and find a used one sometime. Thanks for the update Lou.

I was wondering the same thing, hopefully Lou will chime in since he owns a 7mm RM Bavarian.

Hi Gerry  ..well I went to the gun shop today to pick up the Zeiss scope for the Sako 85 kodiak :) ..although my 7mag is a Bavarian (and I love this rifle) I also handeled the Bavarian in .375 H&H for a good 1/2 hour or so today, and almost bought it too for $1725. Long story short, I already have a Sako 85 Kodiak in .375 H&H and almost sold it to fund the Bavarian .375 H&H (glad I didn't) ....as for me, in .375 H&H, Bavarian vs Kodiak, the Kodiak wins hands down, with that being said, I'm glad I have the 7mag Bavarian, and the .375 H&H Kodiak.

I hope you find a good lefty sako 85 gerry  ..I'm still looking for ya pal :)

Lou

Sounds like a tough choice Lou but it is probably better to stick with your current 375 since it is a stainless laminate, it will be a great rifle in good or bad weather. Your 7mm RM will be nice for better weather. My 264 WM hasn't sold yet, I will need to sell it and one more gun to do anything. We are working hard to pay down our mortgage so need to behave ourselves, but in a couple of years when we are done I will celebrate with a new gun :) So hopefully now but if not later it will happen, it is a good goal to keep things focused :)

I agree with Gerry that the Sako Kodiak is hard to beat. Laminate and stainless is quite sharp, and impervious to the elements.

Yes Mike and Gerry, I sure was tempted today, but made the right choice :) ....I waited almost 2 yrs for the Kodiak (because always out of stock) and I'm glad to have one, they're hard to come by, they are sold even before the dealers get them ..my grandson well be shooting this rifle as well as the 7mag Bavarian one day 8)

I have been looking at Sako's as well but the new sticker price has me in shock.

I know Charlie, unfortunately it will only get worse :(

Update Gerry, I confirmed the 2014 Sako pricing pal, although prices have gone up, I can get you into a Sako Hunter lefty for $1799 plus B.C tax, my dealer has them on order (best Sako dealer in Canada) 8)

As it stands now I probably won't be able to swing one this year but who knows maybe by summer or fall things will be different. I have no regrets trading for the Tikka 6.5x55 for my wife, the Sako will come one day it is the gun I want the most. Besides it may be a year before we see them and maybe the funds will be there by then

I just got Obamized (rhymes with lobotomized) on my health insurance policy. After paying the new drug copays, I won't have any money left to buy any more guns. The insurance company will no longer pay more than 66% of my drug costs for antibiotics when I get MRSA pneumonia, about 3-4 times a year. My copay now will be $1800, out of pocket, each time I get MRSA.

OUCH!
My quest for a Sako ended with the Savage 6.5 x 284. I'll probably get a left hand Savage in .204 next year to round out the collection. I also acquired a left hand stainless Ruger 30-06 to use as an all around brush and foul weather rifle and that's likely the one going to Newfoundland.
I'm just starting to get hit with my deductibles for my recent cardiac stent. Let's just say I met my yearly deductible and it's only March. If I was ever going to get sick now would be the time to do it.

I'd like to have a Sako. Either the Gray laminate or a Finnlight in a small 6.5. Being as I've really piled on a bunch of Model 70's a Sako would be a lot of fun in a small, accurate 6.5. I've never seen a Sako that didn't look very nice and finished very nicely.

I also like the Model 70's as well as Weatherbys Scotty, but there's just something about Sako's that just makes me feel good :) ..I only have 2 hunting rifles (Bavarian's) and looking at getting a 3rd one, most likely in .223 Remington, just like this one pal,

It doesn't seem to matter prices just keep going up. Not sure where it is going to quit :( I went to local shop yesterday & was told next shipment of powder prices are going to climb approximately 20%. They had 1 box of Nosler 150gr ABLR $69.99 when I purchased them in October I paid 62.99.

Blessings,
Dan
