Well I gave it my best shot but can't handle the physical stress that is required to hunt and walk in the woods. The ankle just won't let me do it along with other problems in my left foot from the tendons strained to the sprained joints that just won't take the pressure of walking on rough ground along with the long periods of standing in one place. The ankle and foot was thoroughly tested.
Good thing is I know I can do it and it will be next year to look forward to.

Too bad about the stress, Rodger. Best to be fully healed, though it means losing a season, rather than jeopardising many seasons to come. We're all pulling for you to be in the field next year.

Sorry to hear that Rodger. With working on it to get it stronger you will be back next year going full bore and as good as new!!

Blessings,
Dan

I don't want to be "good as new," Dan. I was told I couldn't even crawl at that stage! How 'bout, good as any twenty-year-old?

I don't know if I would go that far :!: Some things you just need to let alone
I'll be happy to be pain free and be able to walk on uneven ground again.

Hope you get to fully heal and get back into the hunt next Fall. Plus, you'll have some work to do with the new rifle pretty quick I think..

Thanks everyone for your thoughts all is not lost just delayed.
I was once told by a Doctor that I was like an old Ally Tom Cat, Go out and get beat up on the weekend, lay around all week nursing my wounds and go right back out and do it again.
It was his way of telling me I didn't let anything get me down for long.

TD,

Sorry to hear buddy. Set your sights for next year.
After my ankle surgery, I was told I would walk with a limp and maybe even need a cane.
I busted my butt with PT and was back up in my tree stand that fall...without the aid of a cane or even a limp.
I am very lucky and thankful that I made a full recovery. I am also very lucky to have shot this buck with the bow.

Best of luck to you for next season, it will be a good one for you.

Thanks JD338
I guess my age has a little to do with it, when taking PT my Therapist told me he couldn't do anymore for me because the ankle had recovered and range of motion was near normal so it's just a matter of trying to strengthen everything and get the tendons and ligaments stretched back out and I think I have some arthritis in it. I'll have it worked out by next season.

And a beautiful buck it is, Jim.

That is a nice Buck I should have commented earlier on it, I use to love to bow hunt when I was younger.

Rodger I am sure you will give it a very good effort and come back strong next year.

Jim dandy buck with a bow my friend!

Blessings,
Dan

I am really looking forward to seeing a picture of Roger with a big buck next year.

Thanks for all the encouragement fellows, just a little down but not out. I probably should have done some rough terrain walking back in Oct before the season but I was still working on walking long distance then and building stamina.
It will come around.
