SHOT ONE & DONE- 1ST SHOT

And I have to give it to you Scotty, whether it was guided by an angle or not, that's the idea here on this. If you have a 200 yard zero you know you are gonna be high at 100 so you have to compensate and hold a little low. Just real practice, real good. You did fine sir! Hard to believe those 264's would penetrate paper & a cardboard backer at 100 yards!

Thanks David. It was just plain luck of the draw really. I haven't worried about a zero yet. Still trying to get a proper load. I'm surprised these 6.5's made it through also. I know the 35's and 338's don't have much trouble though! Scotty

Well I finally got out today and shot my two rifles at 300 yards. I shot my 30-06 over the target (Kentucky windage) so this is just my 7 mag off the bench.

My buddies 300 win mag 1965 Model 70 shot this group at 300 yards.

and with his rifle I shot this 3 shot group at 100 yards (his rifle is stock and a shooter). This was with Hornady Superpormance with 180 SST (Factory). Very impressive.

At first I thought that I had missed the target but after looking closly you can see where three bullets went into that hole.

Corey that is one rifle your buddy should never let get away. What a shooter! Holy smokes. Hard to beat those old Winchesters. Scotty

I see why! What a shooter! He must be a heckuva good rifleman himself to shoot like that too! Scotty

That group will do. He'd better hang onto that rifle and buy up a case of the SuperFormance ammunition.

Man if it rains any more I'll have a floating target at 300 yards, I really want to play, but to busy building arc instead.

Same for us Gm. It rains almost every day and is cloudy and cool. At least that's helping out with the snow melt so it doesnt' go too fast and all at once! We still have an awful lot up there in the mountains. That's one thing which is nice about doing it like this, guys can shoot it once, go on to the next, and come back later and do it again. If you are late doing it that's no problem. It's all for good fun and practice.
David

Well I finally remembered to shoot the far target first at the range today and here are my results. I held dead on with the 30-06 (125g nosler balistic tips), held 4 1/2" high with the mighty 243 win(Nosler Trophy Grade Ammo 85gr Partition), and forgot to hold over with the 7mm-08(130g Speer Hot Core light loads). If I had remembered to hold high for the 7mm-08 I might have something to be proud of  Oh well thats the reason for this practice, not everyone remembers to hold over in the field either.
On a side note, does anyone know how I can get my pictures to look bigger on this site? pm me please if you do, Thanks

It is very fun and good practice also! I am looking forward to more "SHOT ONE & DONE" installments...

#2 is already up there and good to go. I don't know why a person could not do more than one of these at a time, still not much ammo used, and do #2 at the same time, and maybe #3 when it's up. Not really a true cold bore shot, but pretty close and it will save some trips to the range-gas, time, money, and still keep it fun and good practice.

I noticed #2 was up but I was trying to play by the rules of a cold bore. I only live 5 minutes from the range so maybe I can pop over there in the next day or two. Maybe I will even remember to use the Nosler target
