Your two-doe story is terrific!

Never hunted moose. I hear they can take a few shots without visible reaction sometimes...
 
Moose tend to be phlegmatic. They take some phenomenal hits without showing any reaction other than turning and running.
 
Moose is where a hunter truly realizes that a good hit, does have to mean the animal is drt all the time. Always check the for blood a long ways before you think you missed. Many a time helping somebody find their animal the blood is not seen till close to being on top of your animal.As with that not to smart stunt shooting that moose that far, them bullet barley open up and sailed right threw. Figure that one out.
